Plastic Surgery Clinics in Korea ***read 1st post before posting***

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I used to be a poster here for more cosmetic reasons but can't remember my login info anymore.

Now I need non-cosmetic advice regarding jaw surgery in Korea. I have obstructive sleep apnea, which has caused me to gain forty pounds in the last two years, nearly crash my vehicle several times during my long commutes in the morning, and leaving me without energy during the day no matter how many hours I "sleep" at night (I write sleep in quotations because I wake up every hour on the hour, and stop breathing about 30-40 times per hour, according to the sleep study I just had). I've tried drinking caffeine, but this just caused more weight gain. I can't take it anymore and have actually experienced depression during periods of particularly bad sleep. On top of my OSA, I have extreme problems with teeth grinding due to misalignment of my jaw, as well as severe teeth clenching. I am terrified that I will be toothless and diabetic by the time I'm like, 35!

*I have already tried the CPAP, oral appliance therapy, and laser therapy. My jaw muscles eventually "overpowered" the OAT and I began clenching again.

**My doctors have suggested weight loss, but without sleep, I'm GAINING weight uncontrollably.

Thus, can anyone recommend a SAFE hospital/clinic that is known for their expertise on jaw surgery? I've read stories of people dying due to these surgeries and am very apprehensive. However, I am in a no-win scenario at this point, as OSA can cause serious health problems, so I just need to find the safest hospital possible. Also, please post prices if you have personal experience. Thank you!

Wow. This is scary and terrifying. Have you asked your doctors if jaw surgery would help with sleep apnea? Not that I know too much, but I had a teacher in high school who had a nose job because he suffered from sleep apnea.

If you're considering surgery, maybe you should consider speaking with a local specialist before flying all the way to Korea. And after consulting a local doctor who can actually see your xrays etc. you can decide where you'd like to do your surgery.

Sleep apnea sounds pretty serious. I hope you find the answers you're looking for.

I would go later if I could, but that's the only time I can take enough time off work for surgery/recovery. I'll only be in Korea for 10 days, and since I'm arriving on a Friday, I have to do all of my consultations in one day. Originally, I thought about doing my nose revision with JW, but now I'm worried about time constraints since all of the doctors are saying you have to do eyes first, then nose, and fat graft last. Since swelling will affect how they're able to operate.

JW did offer a free revision on my tiplasty, but they're much more expensive than some of the other clinics for eyes/fat graft so I'm a little stressed about my short stay in Korea.

And just to be clear, I'm not reconsidering JW for my nose revision because of the Chinese patient scandal. I trusted Dr. Suh in 2012, and I'd trust him with my nose again. It's just... TIME!

How are you able to take such long breaks from work? The only reason I can take 10 days off is because it's the holidays in the US.

Ohhhh you were referring to those procedures! I'm the same way, I only wanna do my main procedures once. I'm still not 100% sure if I want lip reduction, I'm leaning towards yes but rhino and chin implant are my main priorities.

I research through my cousin who is from USA and he has Korean girl friend....Yeah it is little complicated. But still I've got info from her.
And she gave me a list below;
Korea Plastic Surgery, Youtiful Vom Plastic Surgery, Idea Plastic Surgery.

Those plastic surgery clinics I 've never seen or heard here. So why not check it out?
Specially lip reduction is not that common surgery I think.
Please look for clinics as many as you can.

Good luck!

How can jaw surgery helps with sleep apnea? What's your main reason of blockage? Throat muscles? Jaw muscles? I'm reading up about sleep apnea, looks like you need Tonsillectomy and uvulopalatopharyngoplasty.

Why would you go to Korea for such surgery? Korea is more known for aesthetics than functionality. Doesn't your insurance in your own country cover that so that you can do it in a proper hospital?

Well if you must do it in Korea for whatever reason, from my own research, I think EverM is best at jaw surgery. The Dr is very professional. Arrange a consultation with him and you'll know what I mean. But I have a feeling that you should consult an otolaryngologist in your own country first.

I am planning to quit my job for surgeries:biggrin::biggrin: i have planned my PS trip for more than half year, really hope everything will gone right:shucks:

I think they just quote you an expensive price, you should consult again to get the final price!! And as you have done your nose in JW before, they might give you a discount!!!

My friend told me I have to do my eyes, then nose and fat graft in order. That's why i will separate all my surgeries in two times. I may just do my nose and fat graft first, then eyes in Feb 2015.

If you got 10 days off, I think is better to do all 3 surgeries in the same clinic!!!

And have you realized that a lot of koreans like curved nose, but in my opinion, is a bit piggy..... i really hope my doctor won't make me a piggy nose..........

Hi .has anyone heard of nohjonghoon? My friend's relative who lives in korea recommended this place for facial contour and i can't seem to find much info. My friend's relative says that nohjonghoon doesn't advertise much and is famous among the locals by word of mouth?

I've been interested for some time but I'm just starting my research..mainly reading through these threads.....

I'm arriving in Korea next week and have approximately 4 weeks in the country. In that time I'm looking to get eyelid surgery, contouring and rhinoplasty..I haven't researched any clinics or contacted any surgeons in Seoul yet..am planning to do it all when I arrive. My question is:

Is this feasible, given my time constraints? Is it as simple as turning up in Seoul and getting a surgery booked within a week? Are there waiting times etc?

Thanks a lot!

Hi!
So I had my lower blepharoplasty this morning, and I'm at home icing & taking medication. My right eye seems to be 'crying' a lot which I can completely understand but there is blood in the tears? Sorry to be graphic. Is this normal for this procedure? I was assured that this is normal when I left the clinic a few hours ago, but it seems quite a lot. It's also a lot more swollen than the left eye, although the nurse said that again, this can happen as the two eyes won't react the same. I'm continuing to ice which seems to help. Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks x

Hahahhaa I actually really like the nose that's slightly tilted up. But I can see how that might look a bit piggy. Dr. Suh doesn't do that kind of nose. At least, that's not how my nose turned out

And I did ask JW if they would be willing to give me a discount since I did have surgery with them before, but I was quoted $5,500-$6,000 for eyes alone! And they were pretty firm about that price :/

Since everyone (even the consultants) are telling me it has to be eyes, nose and then fat graft, I think I'll have to do everything at one clinic.

Do you have another job lined up? In the US, the economy is still pretty soft so I don't see myself quitting my job. Although I'm very nervous about coming back to work with an entirely new face. My coworkers will definitely gossip. Hahaha.

She had eyes, nose and fat graft done, which is exactly what I want. @Susaki! I hope our faces turn out amazing like hers!!

I usually don't message people on korean forums, but I asked her for price/doctor so hopefully she'll respond!

Nope, i havnt yet find another job, as i dont know how's my face will turn out:hrmm::hrmm:
I think is hard to find job in dec, as people won't quit their jobs at that time. But i will find part time job if really could not find a new one.

As i remember you are korean, right?? Then they should quote you korean price, juz around 2mil won can do everything include epi, ptosis, etc. Actually, I do research on naver, and i quite like round dolly eyes, but not "shocking eyes" (Jewelry seems like making shocking eyes), and i quite like Oscar PS eyes, I will just go to ask Dr Kwon from AT whether i need to make epi, if not, i may choose small local clinics
