  1. Admittedly those after pictures do look nice by Dr. Yappy (is that a nickname?). But, on most of them you can see the white highlighter down the middle of the nose making it look much better, and one is tilting her head forward (middle row left) thus making her face look more heart-shaped and her nose more balanced, plus, on her before she has on no makeup. Everyone (at least speaking for myself) looks better with makeup and white highlighter down the middle of the nose, and our best angle for "afters." Just saying. That's not saying he doesn't do a nice nose, but decide for yourself.

  2. Did you ever get this done? Would love to hear more. I have read this is a difficult area to treat effectively esp. when there are no bags, just a tear trough needing some kind of filler.

  3. Hi, how are you doing now @neesaneesa? I had a rib graft removed--if interested you can check out my thread "my rhinoplasty revision experience in Seoul" Dr. Paik at PS101 did a nice job of removing the graft-- I still have swelling there but it's coming along well. Sending you a pm as I don't want to hijack this thread.

  4. Well said @eurasianbeauty. I agree with you and I'm glad you pointed that out.

In fact, while consulting clinics in Seoul, I was asked by one of them if I would be a model (it surprised me since I am not a young woman), and although I was flattered and liked the clinic, I wasn't comfortable with the idea of having my pictures up for public viewing on a website. I didn't share this before as I didn't want to say which clinic (and I still don't). Of course, I ultimately decided to go with Dr. Paik anyway so it was no longer an issue.

Thank you @eurasianbeauty for reminding us that there are many different cultures here on PF and that we all need to be respectful of that.

  5. Yes, I had revision rhinoplasty with Dr. Paik -- I posted a thread on it you might want to check out. I had a rather unusual case with a rib graft on my bridge that required removal (it looked strange) after being there for many years. I also had a tip graft. I am still in the healing process--it's just been about 4 months now and I still have swelling and can't really say what my final result is yet, but overall I am pleased so far. Again, you might want to read my post and also one by @smokococo--her story is what originally inspired me to go see Dr. Paik. I loved their clinic and it's true that they don't need to advertise. Good luck!

  6. Hi,
I am not yet even 4 months out from my revision--so I don't think my photos at this point would show a true representation of the final result, sorry. I'm also not sure I'd be comfortable sharing pics online. I really admire those who are brave enough to do so though.

What I did, without seeing anyone's before and afters on here, was go see him and he showed me before and afters that related to my particular issues, and that was very helpful. In fact, he was the only one who did that, which is partly why I chose him, in addition to the fact that he only does one nose per day.

My advice is to go see him, email and/or Kakao. Good luck!

  7. Nadine! There you are--it's so good to hear from you! I wondered how things went for you. I'm sorry you are not happy. You have pretty eyes by the way--such a pretty color! And lovely skin. I am wondering, how does your rhinoplasty result compare to your nose before the surgery?

What month did you have your surgery? I had my rhino revision the end of September (open) and I definitely still have swelling! I think revision rhino swells more?

Is your pic a selfie--I am wary of them as they sometimes make my nose look too big.

Please hang in there! Time will tell what your final result is. Please don't give up hope. Hugs!!

  8. Neesaneesa, I read your story with interest and I'm sorry for what you are going through.

Although many people have rib grafts on their nose and it looks great (such as MsOrange), I too had a rib graft I disliked intensely and had it removed from my bridge 2 months ago (my Dr. used alloderm to fill in the dented area that the rib graft left--my rib graft had been in for many years--perhaps that made it worse and caused the dented area, I do not know). My radix and upper bridge area is still swollen after 2 months. Perhaps yours is still swollen also? Have you specifically asked the clinic and/or the Dr. if the rib graft was removed? I would certainly not hesitate to ask--as of course it is your right to know. I'm hoping what you are seeing is primarily swelling, which can also be quite uneven depending on which side the Dr. went into your nose on during the surgery. When was your surgery? I hope things turn out for you.

  9. Glad you found it useful! Yes, the Tmoney card was sooooo convenient. You can grab a bus, train, or cab anytime w/o fumbling for cash or your credit card! Just keep it well-stocked, and when you leave, simply cash in your card at the CU store again at the airport (that's what I did). There was only a small fee taken off for getting what cash I had left on it returned (you can only get your money returned at the CU store on 3 floors of the airport--any of them will tell you which floors (I don't recall now but it only took a few minutes) so make sure and go a bit early to do this--or, simply use it all up or nearly so if you prefer). Every time you use it you'll see how much you have left on the little machines at the subway or bus. I highly recommend it!

You can refill it easily near the entrance/exit gates in the subway stations at any time of the day/night. You need Korean Won to do so though, so off and on you may need to change some money but you can do that at any bank/atm. There was an atm near my Airbnb (and many as well in the subway stations) that I used when needed for just this purpose! When you get on a bus, you simply run your Tmoney card over the little machine as you step on the bus, and you do so again as you leave through the back door. (similar to the subway). Most of the people riding the bus and subway use the Tmoney card. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the cab drivers accepted it as well! It's a win-win really.

  10. I used my credit card for everything in SK (to get points partly but also ease of use). I only used Korean won to refill a subway/train/cab pass called Tmoney--you can use this card for both buses, trains, and cabs which is so nice!). I bought the first Tmoney card at the airport using my credit card, at a little store that I think was called CU which is by baggage claim--(there's a money change machine nearby to get some cash for refills on your Tmoney card at subway stations as needed).

I put $30 on my first Tmoney card. I took the subway from the airport to my airbnb which was located right next to a station (I did have to change trains once). The subway is so fast and easy if you don't mind navigating it yourself. Of course if you're staying in Gangnam, cabs are also a good bet. I often took cabs as well to the Rodeo section of Gangnam from my Airbnb, again using my Tmoney card. No worries about tips, etc. They put it through a credit-card type machine quickly and you're done. So it's nice to have the Tmoney card on hand.

When it gets low, the subway gates will let you know. Then you just run over to a machine and refill it with your Korean Won.

  11. Thank you for the good wishes Bubble2525. In contacting him, I just sent an email and waited for a response in the beginning. There is a helpful young lady working there who speaks quite good English. I'm sure you'll be connected to her either through email or kakao.

In answer to your question, before the surgery Dr. Paik drew on my photos and we discussed a proposed outcome, which is consistent to what he did with someone else I read about on the forum. He made sure we were on the same page. Also, he showed me before and afters during the consult (and before surgery as well as it applied to some point we were discussing) with cases similar to mine, which was more indicative of the kind of result I might get. I appreciated that.

  12. Someone asked me why I think the rib graft left a dent and I'll answer that here. I can honestly say I don't know, perhaps pressure after many years? Or, perhaps the doctor that placed it there originally could have scooped my bridge out some before placing it might also be a possibility. :confused1:

I should add that this is a question that I haven't asked Dr. Paik, as it's kind of a moot point now.

  13. Well, albeit I have lot of swelling, (which is to be expected), particularly where the rib graft was removed, but so far I see a smooth-looking, more feminine bridge, symmetrical nostril openings, a better scar for open rhino (I didn't even realize the previous one was that bad until seeing Dr. Paik's excellent handiwork), and everything looks good so far for what Dr. Paik had to deal with in my particular case. My family member is pleased as well.

As far as booking surgery, you could call them, send an email or kakao and inquire with them directly and see what openings are coming up for surgery--I believe the lady I read about secured a date for surgery before her consult which is what I would suggest. You may be able to do the same--although I don't know how the deposit would work--but it's worth asking about. For me, I was made aware of an opening during my consult but I had to change my travel plans and stay much longer in order to use that date (I didn't want to fly back home and return so I decided to stay--I have been here for over a month now). So if you could do that ahead of time somehow (again I'm not sure how that works), it would likely be best.

I hope it works out for you. Are you wanting a primary rhinoplasty or a revision?
