It has been quite a while (19 months post ops) since my surgery and I'm here to update my results. Knowing that this is somewhat the most invasive surgery undergone, I do want to allow ample deswelling time before writing this.

During this 1.5 years of recovery for my zygoma n smas facelift, I've been to Korea for other enhancements and shared in other threads, shall not touch into the details for those, you can PM me if wished to know more:

Long story short, throughout the recovery period, I experienced no complications other than the tightness on the skin. I could feel deswelling continues even after 1year mark, and my face looks smaller than it was before. However, I somehow like my 2-3 months result most with slight puffiness, super tight glowing skin and my chin looked sharper.

Scar wise, they are well concealed in the hair and I did not encounter any hair loss or bald spot. Scars from smas facelift around the ears are barely noticeable except for a raised scar behind my right ear which Dr Jin had given injection to soften it.

I'm glad I did not encounter any sagging from the zygoma surgery via bicoronal incision. Before that I've read sagging is unavoidable after zygoma surgery which made me kind of worried, since I'm not very young and having more soft tissues on my face. But actually I feel my mid face looks lifted now compared to before. I have my latest CT scan taken 1 month ago. Both the cheekbone n chin were well secured and remained intact, no sign of bone nonunion.

Having said that, I recently returned from Seoul and visited my clinic. During my visit, I met another patient (Male in late 20s) from US who just had zygoma revision by Dr Jin via similar technique as what I did and we had a chat with each other. I got to know his revision surgery was a complicated one. Felt sorry about what he had been through after his previous zygoma surgery but happy that he found a doctor who could fixed the complications he had underwent for past 5 years. When I saw his before, it freaked me out a little, at the same time felt blessed n fortunate that I had went to the right doctor for my primary zygoma surgery. I couldn't imagine if it had happened to me. When I last met him in the clinic, he was recovering well and looking good from his surgery. Back to my update, so far, comments I received are all positive. My friends n even doctors from other clinics said my results was impressive.

So how do I feel about my result? Well, after going through a long journey, this is the most worthwhile procedure out of all the surgeries I've undergone. Though most invasive n recovery process took longer, the result has the greatest impact. It was a great improvement for me and I literally feel it. People said I looked pretty now while some said I looked younger than my age. Sometimes you received bonus n got treated better, it feels so good! So if you ask me would I still do it after been through all this? My answer is a definite Yes! I did not regret and am pleased with the results. It has helped me regained much of my confidence too!

The only concern I have now is perhaps the persistent tightness n tension on my lower face n around the ears. My bottom right face feels slightly tighter than the left. Despite that, it doesn't bother me much as I thought it could be part of the recovery process. Nevertheless I'll continue to monitor and update on the progress.

Dude here whos thinking about getting a jaw reduction and Regen is one of the places I am considering. I actually contacted Regen and asked them about OP and they seem to remember her very well. So basically she asked for 'A' and when their surgeon did exactly 'A' she didn't like the results.

So after reading up on OP's story, i felt for her until I did some digging. So she claims there was malpractice and her jaw is all screwed up and she even posted a really bad review on real self but with 0 pics. Then she goes on to talk about how she's going to get titanium implants in her jaw at the face dental. She even wrote in her review on real self she is going to get surgery that day and its already been over 5 months and not a single update. What happen? TFD messed up her face too? Something is definitely not adding up. I basically made an ID on here just so I can private message her about a few questions I had concerning Regen since Dr. Oh is known as the best if not one of the best for jaw surgery. No response. I'd rather trust a place with 95% postiive reviews vs her 1 sketchy review.

I have gained so much knowledge and information from others on this forum that I thought it’d only be right to share my experience.

I am typing this as I’m preparing to leave Seoul, I was here for a total of about 3 weeks and underwent eyelid surgery (for my right eye) at JK and V-line surgery at the face dental.

I came to Seoul alone and was skittish and frankly quite scared. But i wanted to fix the asymmetry in my right eye and my jaw. I always had insecurities about asymmetry that was compounded by comments from others that I only looked “pretty” from my left side.

I underwent my (right) eyelid surgery before the V line surgery at the face dental. Which resulted in many issues with changing the schedule with Dr. Lee. However, he was always very accommodating and understanding even though I gave the clinic so many last minute changes in my consultation timings.

The consultation with Dr Lee made me feel safe and assured that I was in good hands. He has a very warm and friendly personality, I also felt assured because I was able to contact him directly through kakaotalk instead of through a consultant.
I ended up keeping my zygoma bones due to Dr Lee’s recommendation that I did not need the surgery. Which I greatly appreciated as it showed me that he truly cares for his patients and not just the money.
The clinic has a homely feel, most of the nurses can speak basic English and Dr Lee is very fluent in English. So communication was okay.

The hardest part about the whole process was waking up after surgery.
It was so difficult to wake up from the GA, my head felt like it was spinning and I don’t even know how to describe the feeling in my throat.
If you’re considering getting this procedure please be mentally prepared for the discomfort and pain of being unable to drink water for 4 hours after the surgery.
It doesn’t sound like much, but it was the most torturous thing I have experienced.
Thankfully the nurses on the floor were so kind and attentive, they kept checking on me.
I felt much better about 3 hours in the recovery room and was even able to take the subway back to the hotel in the evening!

The swelling peaked at about 3/4 days after the surgery and I looked normal (just chubbier from the swelling) at about 1.5-2 weeks after the surgery.

I love that I was able to see Dr Lee about 5 times after the surgery. I had so many uncertainties and questions and it felt reassuring to be able to see him personally.

i had Non-Incisional Double Eyelid Surgery in Dream in July of 2018, it feels like it hasn't even been that long haha.

i flew to seoul from shanghai with my mom (was visiting family there) without having consulted any clinics. i'd only researched clinics i was planning on consulting with mainly on purseforum and realself. i didn't really have a plan and i only went there with knowledge of clinics that had a good reputation and the doctors that specialized in DES at each clinic i was going to consult with. anyways, this wasn't a good idea, it's really important to schedule a consultation/consult online and have a plan before you fly to korea for surgery.

when i got to korea, my mom and i settled into an airbnb for one night and then decided stayed at a hotel that we had booked prior to the visit, for the rest of our visit (which was 10 days). the day after i arrived, my mom and i looked up the locations of the clinics i wanted to consult with, and we rode the bus and subway around to each of the clinics.

the clinics i consulted with for DES were MVP, Dream, Banobagi, Opera, GNG, and Teium (had to call off the consultation because they didn't have an in-house translator). all of the clinics above had in-house translators, except for Teium. they were all quite busy with the exception of Teium, so i had to wait for a consultation since i didn't have an appointment booked beforehand. MVP almost didn't have time to do a consultation with me since Dr. Seo was booked with surgeries that day.

Overall Impressions:

MVP:

i walked in and had to wait quite a while for Dr. Seo to have time to do a consultation with me, but the lobby wasn't really packed overall (only like one other person and a group of two people were there, so three total other than me and my mom). Dr. Seo didn't speak any english, but he seemed very nice and patient and the in-house translator translated everything for us. she was also very kind. Dr. Seo was very honest about what he could do for me. i had uneven double eyelids and i wanted to get rid of the extra line between my eye and the eyelid on my left eye. Dr. Seo told me that i wouldn't be able to get rid of it, but that he could even out both my double eyelids and that the DES would make the extra line much less visible (this is normal, a lot of people have an extra line on their double eyelids but you just can't see them sometimes because they're almost not visible unless you look very hard). Dr. Seo also offered advice on what kind of double eyelids i should get (tapered), because it would look better on me, but i preferred parallel. the translator was also very honest, since i was 17 at the time, she told me that i should only do the surgery if i was ready and that i had plenty of time to decide whether or not i wanted to get it, since i was young. i really appreciated her commentary.

my quote for Incisional DES + Ptosis Correction was around 3 million won (roughly $3000).

Dream:

dream was very, very busy when i arrived. they said they could do a consultation with me for Dr. Park, but like MVP, i also had to wait. they told me to come back in about 45 minutes to an hour. i went down to the first floor to grab some McDonalds with my mom (yes, i had McDonalds in korea, lol). when i got back, i had my consultation with Dr. Park. he wasn't very expressive and he didn't say much in korean. they had an in-house translator as well, who translated for both of us. i didn't really feel any negative or positive feelings about my consultation with Dr. Park. it was kind of rushed to be honest, but he was very straightforward and when i described to him specifically what i wanted, he said he could do it. this is partly why i ended up choosing him, because his vision was closest to my aesthetic vision of what i wanted. i was quoted only 1 million won for Non-Incisional DES, apparently they had a sale going on or something. the price was also partially why i chose to go with Dream.

anyways, not a very strong impression from Dream. it wasn't bad by any means, maybe it was a bit rushed because they were busy, but Dr. Park wasn't unfriendly or anything and he was very straightforward with what he was going to do and he explained why Non-Incisional was better than Incisional DES for me. i'm not sure if he said this because he only performs Non-Incisional DES, but oh well. the translator also explained the process that i would go through if i were to book my surgery with them. the doctor and translator were both very thorough and good at explaining, which i liked, but maybe i should have been more wary that they didn't really tell me what was possible and what was not and just agreed to doing everything i wanted (more on this later). also, the translator was very kind and i had a very good overall impression of her.

Banobagi:

i arrived just as they'd opened and already a few people had come in after me only after about 10 minutes of me arriving. they said i had to book a consultation, so i booked it for the next day.

i don't remember much about my consultation, i wasn't really deciding on going for Banobagi before i arrived since it doesn't get a ton of love from purseforum users, but i wanted to see what it was all about since youtubers go there for plastic surgery. overall, it was okay. they assigned me a doctor to consult with, who was apparently a DES expert (don't know if true or false). i don't remember who it was. the price they quoted me was pretty high compared to the rest and since i didn't plan on doing my DES there in the first place i really just didn't consider the clinic after that. they quoted me like 3.5 million to 4 million won i think, idr. the doctor i met with and the translator were both really nice though, and they did some scans on me and took pictures. the other clinics took pictures but didn't do any scans. anyways, i don't remember much of the visit. i didn't really get any glaring red flags, the clinic was just not for me because they quoted me pretty high (it wasn't that much higher though). overall, the translator and doctor were both quite nice and patient and listened to me, but the clinic just wasn't for me. that doesn't mean you shouldn't give it a chance though!

Opera:
welp, i went into this clinic was an overall good impression because i've heard good things about it on this website, buttttt..

when i walked in, there were like two other people there. pretty empty, but there was still a bit of a significant wait time for the translator and doctor. anyways, i don't remember much from this clinic either since it was a while ago but i do remember the impression the translator left on me, oh boy. the doctor was overall pretty nice, he showed me pictures of patients that he'd worked on in the past and his DES work looked like it was very good. when i was talking to him, he suggested that i get a lower crease for my DES as the higher it was, the more it would look puffy/swollen (i should have listened to him, he was right). however, as i was telling him about my own aesthetic view, in a quite polite manner, the translator seemed to get more and more annoyed. she seemed very friendly at first but as i was talking about my view, she kept insisting that the doctor knew best and that a higher crease would look bad. i really do appreciate the doctor, because he was trying to suggest an aesthetic view that he thought would suit me and he was very honest about how a higher crease would look swollen/puffy. he was patient with me while i was explaining what i wanted, it was just the translator who seemed a bit impatient. anyways, they quoted me the second lowest price, 1.5 million won, for Non-Incisional DES. I remember the translator saying after this something along the lines of, "I know you've visited other clinics before us, and I know this is probably the lowest offer you've gotten, right?" she explicitly boasted that her offer was probably the lowest offer i'd gotten (which it wasn't) like she was very proud of it and thought i'd take it right away. she tried to insist that i book the time-slot for my surgery right away, since apparently it was supposed to be a super good deal (it was but, you know). i didn't like her attitude where she tried to insist that i get my surgery that day, i even told her i wanted to think about it, but she kept saying that the later i decide the less spots there will be or something like that. overall, didn't like the translator's attitude at all. the doctor was nice but she really ruined it for me because it felt like 1. she was pushing me to get the surgery, and 2. she seemed kind of annoyed when i was explaining my aesthetic view to the doctor.

GNG:

so i visited here because i actually wanted a consultation for my nose as well, but figured i'd get a consultation for DES at the same time, since that's what i was in korea for mainly.

lobby had quite a few people, not packed though. i met two doctors, both went well. the DES doctor suggested that i get an Epicanthoplasty with my DES though, which no other doctor suggested thus far. but it made sense why he suggested it, my eyes are just a tad bit far apart, so i guess that was just his aesthetic view. i could have refused, but i wasn't really serious about getting DES at GNG, i just wanted to hear his suggestions on what i should get done. doctors were nice and super friendly, as always, except for Dr. Park at Dream (he was just kind of stoic and super busy, not rude or mean). translator was kind of stoic. i don't know, she just gave me a bit of an off-vibe like the translator at Opera, but not as bad. she wasn't really nice or mean. they quoted me around 3.5-3.8 million won for the DES + Epi, i think. i don't remember if they wanted to do a Ptosis Correction.

Teium:

i walked in and they didn't have an in-house english translator so it was me awkwardly standing there while they tried to speak korean to me until i answered in english and they managed to convey that they don't speak english there. there was no one in the lobby, just me and my mom. we left, lol.

Final Decision:

i booked my surgery for Dream because my mom really liked the doctor there for some reason, apparently because he was old and that meant more experience on his part?? idk. also, i chose him because he said he could do everything i asked for. when i was there i'd asked if he could remove some of the excess fat on my eyelids and if he could do a parallel crease, both of which he agreed to, only for him to tell me the day of the surgery that removing the excess fat wouldn't be possible. also, when i was there they told me that i'd be put under sedation for the numbing shot near my eye, but when i called to book my surgery a day later, they told me that they don't usually do that for DES, so i had to specifically request it since i'm really afraid of needles near my eye. they agreed to do it.

Experience:

on the day of the surgery, i was lead to a changing room, where i had to wash my face to make sure there was no makeup on my face (i had none on but i had to do it anyways), and change into a pair of hospital scrubs and slippers. after that, i waited in the waiting room for a little bit and signed my contract, which was in english. there was no blood test for a minor surgery like DES, so i didn't have a blood test, but they weighed me before the surgery. the translator then handed me my antibiotics i was supposed to take, and instructed me on how and when to take them after the surgery.

after that, i was lead upstairs to another tiny waiting area right before the surgery rooms. i was lead into an area which contained all the surgery rooms after a short wait, and then into Dr. Park's own office. there, i consulted with him one last time before the surgery and i told him what i wanted and showed him a few pictures too, which he didn't really look at for long, but he said he got the idea. in the surgery room, i actually wasn't that nervous, except for when they inserted the iv for sedation into the back of my hand (i'm afraid of needles). the iv doesn't start right away, as we have to wait for the doctor for a little bit. the nurses sanitize my face and we wait for the doctor while they chat in korean. the translator was there with me for a bit but left once Dr. Park arrived a bit later. Dr. Park drew on my eyelids and the sedation started to kick in and that was that. i didn't notice myself going under and Dr. Park didn't show me what he drew on my eyelids before i'd gone under. during the course of the surgery, he'd wake me up so i'd open my eyes and he could check the crease and see if it needed adjusting, and i'd try to talk to him and try to take in my surroundings when he would wake me up, but i was way too drugged up to do that. after what i think was about an hour or so of weird trips from the sedation, i woke up feeling extremely groggy and i wasn't aware of anything going on. my vision was really screwed up so the nurses helped me get into a wheelchair and wheeled me into a room with a bed and then just plopped me on the bed. i'd tried to talk to them in english while they were wheeling me but i remember them saying that they didn't speak english or something. they left after getting me into the bed and i just waited there for a bit. i felt no actual pain at all, just a lot of soreness from my eyelids. it wasn't bad at all, except for the fact that i felt like i was going to throw up. after a bit, nurses escort my mom into the room and a nurse takes out my iv. i'm starting to sober up now and i feel really sick. the translator pops in to tell us we're free to leave when we want, so i lie there for a little bit longer and then my mom helps me get up and we walk out of the clinic.

Results:
my results were actually really good once i healed up. the eyelids were what i asked for, but i did end up feeling like the crease was a little too high, even though it was pretty much what i'd asked for. it just didn't suit me too well. also, even after the swelling has subsided, my crease is kind of puffy, but it's really not noticeable. i researched this and i figured out that i probably should have gotten Ptosis Correction. without getting Ptosis Correction, i kind of have extra fat where my crease it, giving it a bit of a puffy look at times. i feel like Dr. Park should have recommended this to me, but overall he did pretty much what i asked him to, i should have just done more research on what i needed. i'm probably going back to seoul this year to get a rhinoplasty and a DES correction so i can have less sleepy-looking eyes.

Do more research @SheOnlyLooks25. I just found out that uvom is blacklisted for staff writing fake reviews. Remember find real patients! I chatted for months with Rebecca from Australia who went to mvp in 2015 and she shared so many photos so I knew she was real. The best clinic is the one that gives real patients with similar noses to yours a good result. Talking to real patients is key so keep looking for a real patient who had revision rhino you like who had silicone. I know one LA lady got her silicone replaced after 15 years by Dr Hong at gng and looks fab but then if you are pushed onto Seong like I was, you are not getting Hong who imo is excellent based on his work on real patients.

A korean girl showed me her pic after having lower jaw surgery and her asymmetry did not get improved completely and she developed dull pain after surgery at the back of her jaw which is still ongoing. A singapore guy who did two jaw at tfd was unable to open and close his mouth even after the bandages and strap got removed and he developed lock jaw, he told that he informed about all of this to tfd and they did not pay much heed and asked to pay a visit for actual diagnosis and he did visit dr. lee again and he was told that whatever he's experiencing is due to swelling and if the condition persists then he'll have to undergo resurgery by paying half the price of initial surgery.

The only thing I always had a complex about me were my eyes. I had an eyelid but it was too low and it started sagging too. So, I took a trip to Korea and decided on doing double eyelid surgery. I decided on MVP plastic surgery and paid 500,000KRW for surgery slot. As for me, I didn't have a lot of time in Korea so I didn't go to a different clinic.

Jan 2019 (Day 1)

I went to the MVP clinic and my appointment was around 10am but I went like 20 min early and I recommend that because the waiting process is long. Right, when I went there, I met with Victoria who was very helpful and stayed with me throughout all of the processes. She took me to the second floor and told me to fill out the form. After waiting for about 5-10 min, I was brought in to change my clothes to their gown and again the waiting. Because it was so cold, Victoria brought me to the VIP room to warm myself while waiting. Then I went to take the "before" pictures and again waited for the doctor Seo. After like 30 minutes or so, I went to Dr. Seo's office and there I met Ellen as well. She is another consultant as well and fluent in English too.

During the consultation, Dr. Seo told me that I have severe ptosis and need to be corrected immediately. Since I have a lot of fat on my eyelid, we decided on doing incisional eyelid surgery with ptosis correction. I wouldn't share my exact price but it was around 2k. Since I am doing my surgery on the same day, they brought me up to the 3rd floor to my room. After waiting like 30 minutes again, I was brought into the surgery room. The nurses took my blood pressure, blood test, and I was under general anesthesia. Dr. Seo came in and assured me that everything will be fine and he will do his best. It was m first time under anesthesia or like first time being on the surgery table. As a medical student, I have seen many procedures during school but never had been on the patient's shoes so this is my first time.
Going under anesthesia was a weird feeling. I didn't even know my surgery started. I was dreaming about my parents and all. Basically, I was in a different world until Dr. Seo woke me up by saying "open your eyes" "close your eyes". After that, I woke up but didn't felt any pain as I was still under anesthesia. I follow his directions and I was done. I didn't know how long it took me to do the procedure. The nurse took me to the recovery room when I told her I don't feel lightheadedness or dizziness.
Victoria came and gave me all the aftercare stuff, she put some ice pack on my eyes and explained all the medicine and what to do and what not to do after. I didn't feel a lot of pain right after but later when I went home, my pain was around 4 out of 10. I can tolerate my pain well.

I went home and ate the pumpkin soup and some croissant immediately with my pain medications. I put the eye drop and applied a thin layer of treatment(Terramycin) on my stitches.
To be honest, it was a very different experience for me. I was scared and nervous doing my surgery and I was all alone. I walked around a lot to get rid of swelling and also wear the ice pack for 30 minutes often. I was embarrassed to walk around with my glasses during winter so now I have to find a hat to cover my eyes.

Day 2
It wasn't hard and the pain is not there at all for me. But I swelled a lot on my one eye than the other as you can see in the pic. I am still following all the precautions and applying the treatment they gave me. Otherwise, it's all good.

I will update later. I might have a lot of mistakes because I didn't edit.

After doing extensive research for months on end through PurseForum and other p/s forums/website- I decided that getting facial Contouring in Korea was my best option.

Getting surgery in a foreign country by yourself can be extremely daunting!!!! So I knew I wanted a clinic that would take care of their foreign patients but also a clinic that specializes in facial contouring. Of course being from the States the only way of consulting was through emails and different messenger apps. At first I consulted with 3 different clinic (ID hospital, View and DA). ID hospital seem extremely pushy, so I automatically disregarded them out of my list. When consulting with DA through WhatsApp, I was happy with what they informed me and I love their "dolly" look. At first I was for sure set on going with them... until I joined a Kakao group and started hearing horror stories about the clinic. (Also when I arrived in Korea they totally spaced out my consultation- like how unprofessional is that ) . I was under so much pressure to choose the "PERFECT" clinic with just a week out before my flight to Korea. Thats when I found a clinic called "Cooki Clinic" that specializes in facial contouring, I also love the drastic results the doctor perform without making the girls chin to pointy. I also love how small and personal the clinic was.

I consulted with cooki as soon as landed in Korea. At first I met with my translator Haley and she directed me into a room to get my Ct scan, shortly after I met with my consultant then soon after the doctor (dr Sungmo Chung). I explained to him what my ideal shape face was and I also expressed how I did NOT want to lose any volume in my cheekbone as well as no pointy chin. They knew exactly what I wanted and explained to me what my overall fit was (mandible reduction, side Zygoma and genioplasty) I had all trust in them. They knew more than I did after all. After about 2 hours later I left Cooki feeling extremely confident!!!!

Fast forward, I ended up going with Cooki Clinic and I have no regrets!! They also offered me a free room for 7 days after surgery- walking distance to the clinic. Which is so comforting especially being by yourself. I ended up having to wait about 4 days for my surgery due to the fact that there was only one doctor that performed facial contouring and he was booked up till then.

Oct 10th: I came into the clinic at 9:30am in the morning got changed and met with Haley my translator, the dr, and the consultant. We went over everything and I knew I was in good hands. Haley was with me through it all, she was even in the operating room with me while I was getting ready to go under general anesthesia . Haha!!

After surgery was seriously the WORST pain of my LIFE!!!! Omfg!!!!! Thanks goodness for amazing staff!!! The doctor even checked up on me to see how I was feeling before leaving for the day, like how sweet and personal is that! I honestly never felt such crucified pained before! When someone says getting v line doesn't hurt, it HURTS! But beauty is pain right

I honestly can not recommend Cooki clinic enough, from the skilled doctor, the kind staffs, Fantastic service, and amazing aftercare. Whatever question I had, Haley was always quick to text back and answered my concerned. Honestly I came to Korea not knowing what to expect, but I am soooooo happy with the outcome and my decision on going with Cooki Clinic. I am about 25 days out and I am seriously sooo happy with what I'm seeing so far.
Thank you Dr. Chung!!! Seriously THE BEST!!! This clinic doesn’t get enough credit, bc Dr. Chung is seriously so sweet, amazing and so skilled!

I would even msg pretty girls that I thought had work done to see who their doctor was and where they went but everyone was so secretive, it bothered me so much. I was quoted the SAME COST by a doctor in the US who I will be doing my surgery with. My doctor is a HIGHLY respected true cranio surgeon. I get what this posted means by 'true'' surgeon. Before you can start cutting bones in the USA you need YEARS of training.

My doctor told me he gets MANY americans who come and see him AFTER they go to Korea! THEY NEVER LOOK THE SAME IRL!

Also the method koreans use for jaw reduction causes sagging!

WHY DO YOU THINK SO MANY TRANSGENDERS HAVE HAD JAW SHAVING ETC WITHOUT ALL THESE KOREAN PROBLEMS?! Because the US doctors are very serious with minimising long term risk.

I saw his before and afters and he gets jaws JUST as slim as the korena before and afters WITHOUT all the risk.

STAY. IN. THE. US. and visit a real cranio surgeon.

In korea I only recommend DR Lee at TFD.

All the others even Dr Oh at Regen have destroyed peoples lives and faces!

Could you clarify to me what exactly the techniques differences are? I'm kinda confused on this... as in us surgeons are more careful with the bones or they use a different technique altogether?

After the surgery, I remember the nurses calling my name and I woke up. A nurse told me that I would love my new face and started to help me get dressed. A caregiver was waiting for me, which I paid $400 for 24 hours. I got back to my hotel with a slight headache from the anesthesia. I was all bandaged up with a drain as you can see from the image below. I would be spitting out blood once ever 30 minutes or so. The first 24 hours was just one of the worse experiences of my life.

Sleeping was especially painful too, you need to sleep at a 30 degree angle so two pillows was required. The next day I went back to see Dr. Lee and he removed the drain from my face. After I got back to my hotel and I was shocked how swollen I was after I removed my head garment.

My swelling continued and it peaked on the early morning of the third day, then it started to decrease. I rinse my mouth with mouthwash twice a day and ate mash potatoes for the first five days. By then I got so sick of it that I went to Cheesecake Factory and ate some nice spaghetti for lunch. Drinking cold smoothies also helps with the swelling and certainly made the face feel a lot better. To pass time, I read more surgery stories an reviews on this forum and watched Netflix with the TV in my hotel room.

I had a follow up with Dr. Lee on the 5th day and he examined my face. We talked about the possibility of inserting a chin implant or having T-Osteotomy done to have the pointy chin. We agreed to decide on it after 6 months once the swelling is gone.

After a week, I could get a faint idea of what the outcome should look like. On the second week, my face size returned to before the operation. Now here I am almost 3 weeks after the surgery. I had a new ID photo taken and the results were already coming out quite nicely. Although I am still quite swollen, its exciting to wake up each day to look in the mirror to see yourself looking more and more handsome! Here is the before and after photos I had the ID photos placed side by side. The right is the before and the left is the after!

I will post more pictures in the future. I want to say a big thank you to my friend Carina for always being there for me through those tough first week. If you ever read this, I want to say thank you! I also want to say a big thank you to Marlee who was there next to me when I had the FaceTime consultation with Dr. Lee! I am really grateful to Dr. Lee and his team for the amazing work. Dr. Lee is an amazing sculptor, he did a great job sculpting my face. If anyone is interested in jaw shaving or V line surgery and wants their surgery done here in United States, then by all means contact Dr. Lee, all consultations are free. I would definitely recommend Dr. Lee, he is by far one of the best doctors in this area of expertise in the U.S. and is especially good with working on Asians.

At first I thought the surgery would be painful, but there was no pain at all. You will feel slight pain and discomfort time to time, but its not to the point where you would need painkillers, although Dr. Lee did prescribe me painkillers.

I believe plastic surgery should be used to enhance a person's looks and not turn into a Gangnam unnie haha I hope my review and experience will help those who are considering this surgery and is scared to travel outside of United States and wants to have it done here. For me, I have gained a lot of self confidence and my friends around me all commented on how great my surgery made me look. I am so happy that I no longer have such a round face anymore and can't wait for all the swelling to die down more! Looks great! Do you know what differences between the korean and american techniques when it comes to FC??? What did the doctor who did ur sugery say about sagging? And is it prevented unlike in korea?

For Christ's sake, there are horrible surgeons everywhere, in the US and in Europe, however, while in Europe and USA you can find very bad surgeons and very good surgeons, in Korea, most of the surgeons are very mediocre.

People are naive and are blinded by the stupid fake before and after pictures. I have read academic papers, I have done my research, I am not pulling stuff out of my ass. I know what the **** I am talking about. I would go to Europe, Canada, US even Brazil for surgery, but NEVER to Korea, not anymore. Been there, done that. I am much much much wiser now. Again, I have done my research, you haven't. Their techniques (in Korea) suck. They do not use the proper techniques of other countries. They only care about money and quantity as opposed to quality. Enough said, you will not change my mind, since I have been there, and many other people too.

I'm actually rather confused how out of like thousands of clinics in Korea they're all completely different from the us.. and that the us is just better. I'm just really confused why none of those thousands of clinics dont use the better techniques and why are they so different?

I decided to make a post to share some knowledge about sagging from cheekbone reduction.

First things first: There is always a chance of sagging with FC. But whether or not it's noticeable, or fixable depends on you and the doctor.

Second, wanted to point out that there's a difference between cheek sagging with the skin (comes from aging, skin wasn't very elastic, or because it's loose aka you cut too much bone off) and what looks like cheek sagging because of fat distribution/ non union of bone/ muscle tissue weakness.
Here are some IRL examples of what these ladies considered as cheek sagging from their cheekbone reduction surgery:

Before I get into my.. ESSAY I just wanna get these questions out of the way.

Can your skin stick back to your bone after it's been cut?
The answer is a soft kind of. The underlying tissues are built to be able to reintegrate. So yes they will reattach to your bone. In the case with tendons being cut it they do heal. But they tend to heal slower and become weaker in quality.

Do you constantly have to get facelift after the Zygoma surgery or can you just get it once?
(after researching about facelifts, and zygoma surgery and how it affects your tissues this is my answer, take it with a grain of salt)
If you cut too much and got loose skin, you can get a facelift with a good effect. And you will age normally like everyone else after that. How fast you age will depend on your skin elasticity not necessarily from your cheekbone surgery. But remember you can have tissue sagging which is different from your skin sagging, and tissue sagging can definitley be from cheekbone surgery, this will be explained down the line.

"SAGGING" FROM FAT

This is a year post op and she considered this as facial sagging because you can see slight bulge of Nasabloid fold there. This is actually not skin sagging but rather left over fat in her nasbloid fold and around her face.

She and i have been messaging and she is going to get lipo not a facelift to rid of that illusion of "sagging". I wanna follow up with her and see how that goes.

Hard to tell cuz she's so far away but she wrote in the review that she's happy with her result and that she didn't notice facial sag at the end. (I took it with a grain of salt though because there were no close up shots but it defintiley looked a lot better)

SKIN SAGGING:
This is an example of a 40 year old woman getting FC..
She has had multiple acounts of ultra lifting prior to FC surgery.
The far left is the before picture, The middle is skin sagging from FC a year post op, and the far right photo is after Facial lift.

The doctor notes that no matter how much he pulls the skin it's impossible to get rid of your nasal fold completely like she was in her twenties.

Notice also guys, the jaw tends to look more square when you push in the cheekbone too much. she looked like she had a slimmer jaw before her FC IMO.

Sagging from damaging muscles/ tissues

This one is a really big deal. I haven't been able to find IRL examples of this because it's hard for me to pinpoint and be like SHE HAS SAGGING BECAUSE OF THIS. Even doctors can't sometimes tell what the sagging is caused by let alone me judging from photos lol. All the examples I provided I went off by their personal review and their experience after talking to their doctor. Or the doctor himself.

Sagging from Poor surgery is pretty irreversible when it comes to tissue damage.

See those muscles right there? That's your zygomaticus muscles. And see where they are located? They pull up your face. If those muscles get damaged, that's when you get real trouble cheeksagging and pretty much irreversible (but i might be wrong, i haven't come across a procedure that provides solution though). Because those muscles are responsible for holding your face up (pretty much) when these muscles get weaker, these muscles, the fat, tissues they all start to fall, and you end up with a look that looks like:

Your nasolabial fold will start to look prominent and kind of swollen. these muscles according to the doctor
( from this youtube video: (it's in korean, not sure if there's subtitles i didn't check))
will always get weaker after cheakbone surgery, or the distance will get shorter since your cheekbones have been pushed in. A shorter distance causes a looser muscle. Hence things can start to falllll.....

Sagging from nonunion
It's when the cheekbones don't get properly braced with the "pins"
I will continue this one lol next post.

As of now we have Three very common cheekbone procedures.

1) making an L shape cut, pushing, and then bracing it with metal. This one is the most common procedure done because it avoids those muscles.
2) Shaving: Notice how the zygomaticus muscles are attached underneath the bone. They shave the cheekbone above the muscles.
3. QUICK zygomaticus surgery: They break/ fracture at the outer cheekbone (close to the ear) and they push in. You get to fix your side cheekbones but not the 45 degree. It's hard for me to explain this procedure with words, i wish i can draw it.

These procedure all avoid the muscles, so in theory when done right risk to sagging should be minimal.
BUT if you cut too much for sure you will have a greater chance of sagging for obvious reasons.

When doing your consultation ASK YOUR DOCTOR about the cheekbone muscles and how they will avoid it. Ask them about the surrounding fat as well. Ask them how your skin elasticity is.

Some doctors get as detailed in consultation as touching your face and feeling your skin, and finding where exactly the fats are located. I think this is really important because along with CT scans and relaying information this will give additional info on how your face is built.

Take all this with a grain of salt. I am no expert just wanted to share my knowledge cuz i researched A LOT. and wanted to share ^^

From hundreds before/afters i've seen. I've seen more good results then bad ones but ive read a lot of people complaining about cheek sagging. Although after examining some of the photos of the people saying they had bad sagging i felt like the person didn't actually have cheek sagging....But it is hard to sometimes tell from photos. But i also believe that it is true that when you think you have cheek sagging you start to see it too. I had this case when i was in my early twenties. I got so paranoid about aging that i started to see and believe that i had skin sagging and i looked 40 when everyone still thought i looked 12. So there is still that too.
