  2. Hi everyone. I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I am looking for clinics that specifically treat people that have burns and scarring. I had an accident 4 years ago and have had work done but the rest is cosmetic and my insurance won't cover what remains to be fixed. Someone I talked to on Facebook told me to find a surgeon in Korea as it is cheaper and see what I can do about it. The scars from the burns are on the far side of my face, part of my ear, and down my neck. I would love to be able to make it look less noticeable. I have some on my shoulder too but I am not as concerned with that right now.

  4. I have no experience traveling with kids but a friend of mine does. She has never traveled whilst getting any work done with her kids so that could be a bit different. I will ask her about tips and such when I talk to her and report back with anything useful for your friend
  5. I ended up looking into this a lot more and a lot of people just get basic information printed from their local doctor's office and bring it with them as well as fill out forms through the clinics. It seems it is standard for clinics to request medical history and if they don't ask for any information at all, it is a huge red flag! So be warned. I wanted to make sure I updated this thread for anyone else looking for information on this.
  6. The more I look into this, the more I think you are correct. Everyone and everything I read says to take extra time in case it is needed. Some people have mentioned not needing to stay as long and just changing their return flights at no cost. So that is an option. Sorry for the late response. I have been busy but I have still been looking into everything. This forum has been a huge help!

  8. Just give yourself the standard recommended time off. From what I have read, that is 4 to 6 weeks. So start counting at your post-op exam before you leave Korea.
  9. I agree with this. You can't go based on them but you should use them to see completed work, especially on non-Korean patients. I have heard of people going to get work done but the doctor they went to mostly worked on Koreans so the end result was not good!
  10. I knew about the other ones but did not know about ADHD meds. I am going to have to make sure my friend knows. She is going next month and one of her kids is on Adderall. I would imagine she needs a permit or needs to get it there? Not sure. I will tell her to look into it more. Thanks for this info!!
  11. A friend of mine decided on a clinic and booked an appointment, has everything set up to get her surgery in June. Trouble is, she intended on traveling alone but her husband will not be able to take time off work and they don't have family to watch their kids. I offered but I would only be available on weekends. She will be in Korea for 12 days. They are 10 and 12. Does anyone have any tips I can relay to her with experience in going to Korea with kids?

  13. End of July? I wouldn't worry about doing anything with your trip until you are closer to the date. Even planning ahead for tourist stuff. Unless you want to book something in advance so you don't miss out that is. A lot can change in a few months.
  14. I think you can use them to can an idea of the work the clinics have done but you shouldn't base your decision on them. I have seen a fair number of them that are obviously faked. Like they used AI or something idk.
  15. How long were they? I am curious as I had one recently and I swear it went a lot faster than I thought. I was only on a video chat for maybe 7 minutes. I figured it would be at least a 20 to 30 minute thing but I guess they are busy.
  16. There are some cards you can apply for that reward you for spending during travel too, so you can earn cash back. Try and find something like that, especially if you are going to end up using it to cover part of the cost of the surgery or anything more expensive.
  17. I remember seeing something (I think it may have been on reddit?) about how you can hire a local to help guide you through the process. They will actually go to clinics on your behalf, film the area, talk to the doctors, etc. which can be helpful. I am not sure what they are called or how to find them though!
  18. It has been an annoying process for me too. You are not alone. I feel like I am being pulled in different directions. A lot of useful information online about this will give you the basics but they leave so much information out. It is exhausting. I am happy I found this forum. Hoping to get some help myself.
  19. I thought I had found the clinic I was going to go to. I was ready to contact them until I went down a rabbit hole. It turns out a lot of reviews online are fabricated. Also, the negative reviews are often deleted due to Korea’s strict defamation laws which protects clinics. So now I am not sure. Should I even bother considering reviews as a factor when picking a clinic?
  20. Really you just have to wait. You can double check things like medical history, medications, etc. with the clinic and the laws to make sure everything is good there. Some people like to plan out every day of their trip so you could do that, find places to see and restaurants to eat at.
  21. I stayed here! Not for when I was getting surgery or anything but when I was in Korea with some friends. We stayed at the hotel for 6 days. The rooms are quite small but everything is made up for when you realize you essentially have a mini apartment. We enjoyed our stay there and everyone was insanely friendly.
  22. Sorry! I thought I had replied to this. I must have typed it out and not hit send and only realized it. Thanks for the information. I wanted to update and say I have had two virtual consultations and both were great. I just have to decide on the clinic.
  23. Anything with rose water is said to be really beneficial. I know a lot of Korean beauty products have that as an ingredient but just straight rose water would probably be good. You can look into the benefits, they are tons!
  24. Every one is a bit different but most people return to working no issue by 6 weeks and I would say even still, only a small percentage need a full 6 weeks. If you can get extra time off work, you may as well though even if you don't need it. I know I would
  25. Do those things actually work though? Like botox injections for hair regrowth or the red light therapy stuff. I would much rather do something cheaper if it is an option. I just read into the stem cell stuff being the most effective next to transplants.
  26. I had work on my belly after my second child was born. I had gained a lot of weight with her and had loose skin. I don't think it was called a tummy tuck but I essentially had one. My recovery took about 5 weeks in total but I didn't feel "good" until maybe week 8 which my doctor said was normal.
  27. I will start looking into this over the weekend and contact some doctors during next week, thank you for the suggestion. I just hope they don't shove me around as I don't intend on getting work done locally.
  28. I remember reading it is recommended to take 6 weeks off work if your job requires labor. So depending on how long you are in Korea, you should probably plan for an extra week or two once back home to rest
  29. Aside from maybe botox injections and red light therapy, everything with hair regrowth is super expensive. I would think it would be cheaper considering how common it is. Especially for men. I do know a fair amount of females that experience thinning though, especially before the age of 40 these days.
