  1. K, this just shows how "nonchalant" Korean docs are taking the PS procedures. Anytime patients going under sedation thru iv or GA should be wearing proper surgical gowns (butt revealing ones) in case anything happens during the surgery. Granted, small eye surgery that only requires LA is a different story. But you hope that they do the right thing in case of the emergency during the surgery!!

  2. Hi hongkongphooey,

Thanks for sharing your secret of keeping the lateral eyes big! Real smart thing to do on your part
I'm def going to do the same thing if I do lateral later.

Sorry about the anguish that you had to go thru with your burned chin - I have been so stunned with how the clinic/doctor reacted so far. And they are in a profession that are supposed to be highly respected.. Sigh. But I am glad you are strong enough to not let this incident keep you down.

    Enjoy healing

  3. dmhdd, did the clinic give you any pills or ointment for deswelling? If not, did you bring any Arnica and/or Bromelain with you for post op care? Or you can get the pumpkin juice/powder there. Don't panic, swelling should go down gradually tho at different pace for different ppl.

  4. Chrisrtybb,
Are you doing all these in one operation? Were you able to find doctors in Item who are specialized and good in each procedure? Would you mind sharing the doctors here or PM me please?
I heard the recovery would be really tough so hope you are well prepared for that. Having some support system post op may be necessary in your case.
Good luck and pray for you!

  5. Mindy, Thanks for sharing your progress. I agree with the forumer above that in the picture your face does look slender in front view compared to pre op. Your eyes deswelled pretty fast!

  6. Since 2 girls mentioned above that they have protruding fat just above eyebrow, I wanted to post this real quick about what I think it might be. Not sure if you checked with doctor/dermatologist as to what it is? if not, I think it might be the enlarged muscle around the eyebrow area instead of fat. Some ppl use the muscle a lot in their facial repressions without realizing it, over the time, this muscle gets bulky and fat nearby gets burned , giving the protruding appearance. Botox can be used to correct it. When muscles are not used much, the volume eventually goes down and fat comes back making the area looking smooth.

  7. Thanks for another update vitalic. I feel that you have a very balanced view and attitude towards the whole ps thing, which is very hard to achieve when one actually goes thru it. You told us the good and not so good sides of the stories and always put things in perspective. Your post serves as a good reminder for me to try to do the same and not get overwhelmed by one factor and lose sight of the whole picture, at all stages of ps: pre, during and past.

Don't worry about the slow recovery of eye lid surgery, which almost always take a long time. I had it done long time ago and I remembered feeling normal at the 6 months mark.

  8. Totally understand and respect your decisions on sharing. I'll add you on kakao which I just started using today!

  9. Thanks chicbunbun. That's good to know. Did Dr. Lee elaborate why he didn't do muscle reduction for you? was it 'coz he didn't think its necessary? or he just didn't do that procedure for potential complication? or he is not good at performing it? Did he suggest botox injection?

How do you like the vline now? Hope you love the result and enjoy your new look!

  10. Hi KittiKat,

Thanks for sharing and hope you are recovering well from the surgery. I like your realistic view on clinics/doctors as to what they are good and what you are looking for. Your reason of picking DA is exactly the same as why I would choose DA if that is what I end up doing in Sept. The assurance that Dr. Lee brings to the table for a critical procedure such as facial contouring is something other docs can't beat. My only concern with him doing mine is that I am not sure how well he does with the fat/soft tissue/muscle reduction if those are warranted aslo in addition to bone reduction. I also ain't sure how well he does eye revision if I want to do it together with facial bone all in one shot.

Happy healing and enjoy Seoul in the meantime

  11. Hi everyone,

I have finalized my travel dates - leaving home on Aug 29th which is a Friday, arriving on Aug. 30th in Seoul. Planning on doing consultation on Sept 1. Clinics on my list so far:

    TLPS
    DA
    DREAM
    Tieum

Anyone who would like to buddy up for consultation on Sept 1st and is interested in the above clinics, feel free to PM me please

Procedures interested: 3D zygome, 3D jaw reduction, Acculift, incisional eye surgery, maybe forehead FG.

Also, a reminder that Sept 8-10 are Korean national holidays. All clinics will be closed.

  12. K,
When you get chance, would you mind sharing more about the Acculift procedure?

Does it remove fat from cheek all the way down to neck area? Did they break skin on various spots on the faces or neck to stick in the metal wand/needle, whatever that thing is called that's used to suck out fat? Does it work well for you in terms of removing volume on the cheek area?

    Thanks a lot

  13. mimi, sorry to hear about the swell/droop you are still having 4 weeks post op. I tend to believe that it's not fat unless you indeed put on that much weight after the procedure. Most likely its swell/liquid retention in the chin/lower jaw line, and add on top of it, the lack of skin elasticity? I really think it will eventually go away as your body gets rid of the swell.. If it doesn't, you might want to consider a lower face/neck face lift to tighten the skin?? That' the procedure I know I'll need. As I see it, a lift may be the only sure way to get the facial skin tightened. I am planning to take care of the facial bone and fat issue in Sept, wait for a few months then do a lower face lift either in US or Korea.

Try not to worry too much and wait it out.

  14. K, again happy for your nose result - job well done on your part to pick the right surgeon! So the clinics provide some kind of post op packets? That's great. I guess we still need to take care of the pre op part, which is probably just as important as post? Someone in the forum had contributed her quick recovery to the pre and post op kit.

Mai, about the syringe, I saw the take away notes that Mindy posted a few weeks ago:

    # See the take away tips she had towards the end of message (paste it here for everyone's convenience - THANKS Mindy!)

    *****************************************

    MY TAKE-AWAY TIPS
    1. Do your research thoroughly before surgery, know your budget and know what you want (but don’t have unnecessarily high expectations)
    2. Don’t use a translator or hosts (my host was really nice, but you really don’t need one for most clinics, TRUST). Seoul is also pretty easy to navigate around.
    3. If you are doing jaw surgery, stock up on soft food BEFORE surgery. You can get by without a blender but it’s useful! Things like juice, protein shakes, soup, pudding, yogurt, egg, tofu, rice. I disliked the pumpkin juice, and from my knowledge I’m not sure it does a whole lot for healing anyhow, I think I wasted my money. I think the best thing is fresh fruit juices packed with vitamin C for healing.
    4. Get one of those neck pillows (the C shaped ones), I found it helped me sleep upright and facing upwards.
    5. Bring some of your own painkillers, I took tylonel on Day 2 and 3 because the pain was pretty bad in the evenings.
    6. A syringe to rinse your mouth on the side would have been useful but I didn’t think of it.
    7. Mouthwash, the salt water just doesn’t do it for me haha
    8. Keep your headgear in your purse when you go out, when it starts hurting, put it back on, it’ll feel better =)

  15. Mai, 2 things I might add to your list.

One is a few syringes to use right after the surgeries for cleaning the various parts of wound inside mouth; the other a plastic surgery recovery kit that I saw here:

    http://www.makemeheal.com/mmh/product/kits/index.vm;jsessionid=8790A162E30A769AB0DEE6392FEC4AB0?procid=63

I know you have all of the supplements on the list, this kit may be able to make things easier. I hope any forumer who has used this kit can tell us how they like/dislike it

  16. Hi chistybb,

Great to see you've picked your clinic! I am also leaning towards TLPS for facial contouring. Which doctor are you going with? Are you concerned with them switching doctors? Are they very busy to look like a factory? Hope to hear more from you.

    Best luck for your surgeries!
