I was looking up pictures online and some of them, it just doesn't look much different in the before and afters. Others, you can clearly tell.

I am having a hard time understanding genioplasty because of this. I thought it was just a surgery to enlarge the chin, for people that appeared to not have a chin at all. Is there more to it than that? Also, what sorts of clinics in Korea focus on these kinds of surgeries?

I read somewhere that it is more of a specialty surgery vs something like rhinoplasty.

So for chin surgeries, it isn't always about the outside appearance. Sometimes it involves the bite. So where teeth lineup and it corrects issues with under and overbites. Some people, you can't tell much of a difference because of this.

Look into clinics like EverM that focus on jaw, dental, and chin work. You will get a better idea of what they do that way and the procedure names.

This is a generic definition of what the surgery is :

Quote

Genioplasty, or chin augmentation, is a surgical procedure designed to reshape, enlarge, or reposition the chin to improve facial harmony and balance. It addresses concerns such as a recessed, protruding, or asymmetrical chin, and can be performed alone or in conjunction with other facial surgeries like rhinoplasty or jaw correction.

The focus is on the chin but it deals with all sorts of issues around improper balance and shape. Jaw corrective surgeries are different but sometimes are done along side genioplasty ones for better results.

ID Hospital, Girin Plastic, VG Plastic to name a few all show they have a focus on jaw and chin work. These ones were at the top rating higher. There are others but they don't have as many reviews. I will say that the oldest clinic of the three appears to be 11 years old. A lot of clinics I find to be under 10 years old as the growing market and trends for plastic surgery have evolved a lot in South Korea in more recent years.
