Hi

So apparently the 3N procedure is only done at Opera, and the weird name is a reference to the fact that there is no scarring, no loosening of the fold, and no pain. According to the explanation that I received from the online consultant, it's some sort of hybrid DES that is ultimately closer to non-incision than incision. This is what she wrote:

요즘에는 매몰법 보다는 매몰법과 절개법의 장점만을 이용한 3n 방법으로 많이 진행을 합니다.. (nowadays, rather than the traditional non-incision method, the 3N method - which combines the advantageous aspects of both the incision and non-incision - is becoming more popular.)

3n방법은 절개를 최소화하고 의료용 실로 묶는 방법까지는 매몰법과 같지만 (the 3N method, which minimizes making incisions in favour of using stitches to "pinch" the lids may seem purely non-incisional but....)

미세창으로 작은 절개를 3~4개 정도 내서 눈을 뜰 때 사용되는 근육과, 피부를 자연적으로 붙게하는 방법입니다. (the procedure requires 3-4 small incisions, and using your own muscles in conjunction with the incisions, will allow for the skin to heal very naturally).

실밥제거는 상태에 따라 3일째에 있을수도 있고 없을수도 있습니다.. 회복기간도 절개법보다 붓기나 멍이 빨라 (Stitches can be removed from the 3rd day, depending on the person, and the recovery process is much faster than the incisional method).

많이 선호하는 방법 입니다.

현재 저희 병원은 이벤트 기간으로 3n 90->59만원( 부가세 별도)로 진행중입니다. (There is currently an "event" going on at our clinic and the price for 3N has been reduced to 590 000 KRW).

Ahhh my translation skills aren't the best, but this is best I could do! TBH, the process itself is still a bit unclear to me, but I wasn't able to find much on the web. Most of the korean reviews on naver simply gush about the 3N technique, rather than explain it lol. I got the impression that the 3N procedure works better for people with thinner eyelids (less fat), and for those who already have double eyelids and simply want to enlarge them. It's also great for people who need a quick recovery and prefer natural-looking folds. In any case, Opera is extremely popular with locals because of their tendency to create lovely dolly eyes while keeping their prices reasonably low. Hope this helps!

Hey Girls,

I am going to Korea some time next year between Jan to Feb 2015 and will be getting my double eyelid + epi done there.

However, I am torn between the choices of Banobagi and Regen!

Has anyone been to any of these 2 and any advise?

Thanks

However, I am torn between Regen and Banobagi thus your reply would really help me alot.

Thanks babe

Hey! It's the first one - Park Seon-Jae. He specializes in double eyelid surgery and developed the "double embedding" method that's very popular at Banobagi. It's an advanced non-incisional technique so there's very little down time and the chances of the crease unfolding are slim. However, the results are very 'natural' so it's not advisable for people seeking extremely dramatic, western-looking eyes.

Sorry I can't provide any info regarding Regen. I drove past it in Korea - it's a large clinic and I saw several foreigners (Caucasian) walk out with bandages and splints, which caught me off guard for some reason lol.

Hi, I done my double eyelids, removal of upper eyelid fat, eyebag removal about 7 years ago. I always have a feeling that too much fat was being removed and the double eyelid is too high. I heard Banobagi and Teuim are good with revisional double eyelid. Anyone here done a successful revisional too high double eyelid? Please share the duration required for you looked really natural, recovery period and where do you do it, and the cost. And also, does the Korean love band can help with my too fierce looking eyes? Appreciate your input.

For everyone who is interested in Opera,
Try contacting them through their Kakao. They reply very fast there, however they do not speak English. They do have Chinese consultants though and asked me if I can speak Chinese on Kakao lol but unfortunately I can't. I just tried broken Korean with them and they told me they charge 590,000won for double eyelid surgery. SO reasonable! I was considering Teium for eyes (good but pricey) but now I may consider Opera too (seems good but not many foreign reviews, cheap). I'm just a little worried on paying too low for surgery since I want it to turn out perfect.

Hi, I understand that it can be nerve-wracking to undergo plastic surgery in a foreign country. But I wanted to give you a "heads up" that DES is considered a very common, minor procedure in Korea, so don't be too taken aback if you find that the doctors there are very curt and 'efficient' during the consultation. Most experiences will be similar to mine, so I hope it provides you with a better idea of what to expect!

Banobagi is one of the larger, more famous clinics in Gangnam. It has 5 or 6 stories (can't remember) in total and is always bustling with clients, mostly locals. When you check in, the receptionist will provide you with some papers to fill out that ask general questions like age, weight, procedures you're interested in, etc. Afterwards, you will be called up and taken to a smaller room to speak with a consultant. This will be almost always be in the form of a beautiful, cheerful, young woman. You explain what you want, she will give you her opinion, and then she or some other lady will take some pictures of your face. Finally, you meet the doctor. Dr. Park was very straightforward and a little intimidating at first. He emphasized that he hated it when clients brought in pictures of famous celebrities because he believes every procedure ought to be tailored to the specific needs and realities of the individual. What is considered a beautiful nose on one person may not be ideal on another. I asked him about the chances of the crease unfolding or disappearing, and he acknowledged that it was a possibility (1 in 200 cases). He didn't sugercoat or embellish his technique or skills, and was brutally honest about everything. Dr. Park recommended non-incisional "double embedding" DES and a tapered fold. I inquired about the parallel type and he demonstrated with a little pointy tweezer that it would create ugly sausages in my case. Afterwards, I returned to the other room where the consultant was waiting for me. I should mention that I was accompanied by my Korean cousins throughout the entire process. The consultant read through the doctor's notes and offered a price. My cousins negotiated on my behalf and brought it down to 1.2 million KRW (if you use an interpreter, costs will inevitably be higher). We booked a date and left. I chose a morning spot because you have to fast 6 hours prior to the surgery.

On the day of the surgery, I arrived with my family and was instructed to remove all my makeup. Afterwards, I was taken to the surgery room and communicated one last time with the doctor before proceeding (confirmed he would be doing a tapered fold, conservative height, etc.) The most painful part of the whole ordeal were the injections. Oh my god - I can't even think about this part without cringing. There were 6 injections per eye, and I couldn't stop crying. The doctor was cooing and instructing me not to squint otherwise it would cause bruising, but I couldn't help it. Other than that, everything else was a breeze. You keep your eyes closed for the most part, but the doctor will instruct you to open them every once in a while to check whether the creases are symmetrical. Everything took 20-25 minutes in total. Afterwards, I was taken to a quiet room with beds, and the nurse placed an ice pack over my eyes and wrapped gauze around my head to keep it in place. I think I laid down for around 30 minutes. Then, you are given a kit containing cotton balls, Q-tips, disinfectant, ice pack, and instructions on how to care for your eyes. You can take advil for the pain, but I didn't feel it was necessary. Your eyes feel stretched out, and it's more of an uncomfortable sensation than it is painful. Stitches were removed on the 3rd day, and the process took 15 seconds with absolutely no pain. I met up with the doctor twice after the surgery, and he confirmed that everything looked fine.

The double embedding option is great if you need a quick recovery. I was out and about the day after surgery, and felt comfortable enough to go to malls, restaurants, etc. By the third day, there was almost no swelling and only some purplish bruises around my right eye. Against doctor's orders and common sense, I drank soju incessantly after the surgery (attended an MT) so that may have contributed to the bruises. Within a week, my eyes looked normal and no one could tell I got work done. By the second week, I was wearing eye makeup. I honestly feel that you will most likely get the results you want whether you choose Regen or Banobagi, as long as you convey to the doctor exactly what it is you wish to achieve, and listen to his advice and recommendations. Good luck

Hello experienced DES friends!
Does anyone know the difference between lateral canthoplasty (뒷트임) and lower canthoplasty (밑트임)?
I'm doing research on cutting the inner and outer corners, and on the korean websites, there are two different types of surgery where you cut the outer corners. Anyone have experience with lower canthoplasty? Some clinics have been recommending both to me, but their English websites don't have any details on it.

Thanks guys!
