Use ATM if you're going to be there a couple of days before surgery. Bank of America let me take out the equivalent of $2000/day out of ATMs (after I asked them to up my limit). Dream clinic accepts credit cards but they give you a discount for cash (might have to ask for it). The rate I got out of the ATM's was pretty good. There was a $5 intl atm fee + 1% charge. Bringing money with you is more foolproof. The first time I tried to pull 700K won out and the ATM stiffed me. It was subtracted from my account though. Luckly I had lots more money in there and I got the missing money back once I came to the US, but if I was counting on that money for surgery, I'd have to use a credit card.
She explained to to me the progression of maintanence. moisturizures...cosmetics...fillers...surgery. I got the idea that fat grafting was not seen at the same level as fillers, perhaps because of the harvesting and the semi-permanent effect. My thought was that I should have surgeries now so that my surgeries later on don't have to be as drastic. I think she looks at it more like these surgeries aren't perfect and my face is going to change as I age, so every semi permanent surgery I get will have some residual effect and when I get older it will be obvious that several procedures have been done. If I just try to slow it down and then do the more drastic stuff when I'm already in worse shape then it will look more realistic.
Fat grafting in the us is expensive. Dr kim from dream la quoted me $2000 for one area, with discounts for more. The consultant said I shouldn't do it because I'm too young. I'm 33 and I wanted to do it to fill out some depressions/wrinkles under my eyes. Guess ill have to go to korea where you can find people to do whatever you want lol.
If you've lived where it snows... when the snow is fresh its fluffy and easily moveable. Then some of it melts an refreezes and its hard as a rock. My guess is that this is what happens during absorption and the material is compressed.
Anne, I hope it all works out great for you, now that the pressure is on me Did they do any osteotomy on your nasal bones or did they cover up the hole with the implant? I paid 700K more than you and the differences that I can see are that I maybe had osteotomies done (but no implant) and I had my moobs lipo'd. He did your love handles, right? I wonder why I have incisions in different places. I have 2 on my back.
Bisoux...the scars are TINY and if you're just doing abs they will probably be completely hidden depending on your belly button shape, and...ahem...haircut.
You mean for like health insurance in case something goes wrong? I thought about that and found out that my health insurance in the US covers emergencies. I couldn't find out if the insurance is cancelled if the emergency is a result of an elective surgery, but I don't think it is. I'd like to know if anyone has more info.
Megoreng and anyone else posting pics. I can host your pics with a link that expires after a certain time. At least I used to be able to do that. In any case I can deactivate the link anytime you want.
Well, the review is for sure "real" as in exists on that Korean blog. I saw it in Korean (not that I understood it) before it was translated and posted here. You can also tell by the language that it sounded very emotionally authentic, so it's real or someone should be writing for a living.
Taping of the nose after cast off is common with people who get reduction rhinoplasties. The reason is that the skin doesn't shrink right away and the swelling keeps it from adhering to the cartilage/bone. The result is that you get scar tissue filling in the space. Search for "pollybeak deformity" to get some scary after rhinoplasty pictures. I think it's less of an issue for asian rhinoplasty because the skin usually needs to stretch for augmentation. I still tape my nose every night and eventually I hope my final result is how it looks right when I take the tape off (it swells a little, but not much). I'm 2 months post op. Still good to ask your surgeon about it because they have differing opinions.
Angleplane, are you going to make me embarass myself with my intimate knowledge of kpop girl groups? SNSD is a girl group SNSD is the abbreviation from the sylables in their Korean name. I don't know for sure, but if they are not the most popular girl group they have to be up there.
I said previously that I know someone in the korean PS industry that told me SNSD members had their noses done at Dream. I don't know which ones though.
Yeah, since I don't have an implant I don't know how that complicates things. The ridge is just above the cheek. If you look at this webpage Fig 2 is where they do the lateral osteotomies
If he performed lateral osteotomies you can feel a ridge as you run your finger from the cheek to your nasal bones. It is not visible as your skin kind of tents over this ridge. If you're still near your surgery date I wouldn't try this in case your bones are still moveable.
Wow, the vibe of this forum is like a roller coaster. Lots of people happy with their surgeries then a flood of bad experiences. Winterntht, I'm pulling for you. Hopefully you can have a good resolution somehow. I read about your osteotomy and even if they rasp (I'm assuming this was for a hump?) They have to do the osteotomies unless the rasping is very very minor. They usually like to do them anyway because narrowing the noses is common and they are in that area anyway. If you're talking about rasping an irregularity somewhere else I don't know about that.
The other thing that stuck me reading angleplane's messages is that if you visit multiple docs and they all are saying the same thing...take it under serious consideration. It doesn't mean they're right, maybe it's just easier for them, or the style in Korea is that way, but more likely they are telling you that for a reason. I remember all the docs telling me they wanted to leave my nose long, which kinda disappointed me. Now, I occasionally look at my nose and wish it were a little bit shorter, but after hearing people's experience with the docs going a bit too far I'm happy with what I have.
How weird that there is a lot of talk about this lately. I was visiting my sister this weekend and of course we talk about my nose and without any prompting she says "your nose doesn't move!" I said "I know! Isn't it awesome?!". We then laughed heartily. Of course my nostrils move quite a bit but not the tip. She of course knew what I looked like before and she analyzes my nose everytime I see her. So, if you're very emotive and have a mobile nose it might be worth it to consider some of the things we're saying here. If not, you might like it
Hey guys, speaking of naturalness. I was on a date this weekend (my first since nj) and somehow the issue of plastic surgery came up. She said "I don't understand those that get plastic surgery, I mean I understand those that are totally disfigured that need to fix their face" totally talking as if we were both casual observers of those having had surgery. hahaha, what they don't know. Anyway just wondered if anyone had similar situations.
