No problem at all. I still had my splint on so for all they knew I could be a totally different person. My passport expires next year which means my picture is of me 10 years ago and 50 lbs heavier. Also since passports are frontal pics even dramatic nose jobs are going to look closer to your old self than profile and half profile views. You could always try to go burqa style and see if they ask any questions.
Is she going to VIP for that? I what's the cost of that? FYI when I got my rhino quote it was 3.5 million KRW, when I added lipo of love handles, upper/lower abs, and moobs they charged me 7 million and "upgraded" (no choice) me to general anesthesia. I remember asking Joann about lipo and remember the price was around $6000 USD Dream also has different docs for soft tissue and nose. I can't comment on the job the soft tissue guy did (obviously) for a couple of weeks.
Cool now we have another adjective for HHer. I was getting bored of the "OMG you're so gorgeous", we can just call her sofa king hot!
For cheap stays in gangnam try airbnb.com they have dorm like rooms for $15-$30 a night. This is the site where I got my apartment that is closer to VIP than the officetel. I cannot guarantee the quality of any place on there but it's nice to have options.
Yes. Is liposuction the only thing she's going to have done? I read at liposuction.com that an open method lessens the swelling because they can drain it near the time of surgery. Apparently if it's done under local it's also an easier recovery (I forgot the reason). I had the worst case according to that site. That is, general anesthesia with closed stitches. It says exPect swelling for 8 to 12 weeks
My professional opinion (that's a joke) is that you have a good bit of self-loathing but you don't want to do the not easy stuff to do anything about it. It appears to extend beyond your looks. To me, this sounds like depression. I was stuck this way for years and I see some of the similar signs. Realizing that you're overweight, and then saying that you're not "that" fat is something I told myself. It seems like denial because you are overweight, and it is bothering you, so you ARE that fat.
Ironically self-loathing can actually help you out of depression if it motivates you to change things you can change like lose weight, hold a job, take the plunge for realistc ps.
I've been one on the forum that has supported any surgical change you really think will make you happier. Now that I see the signs of depression I worry that making this your first step won't make you happier. You've backed off from it now, but a couple of pages back you switched frm your claim of mainly doing this for idendity reasons to saying that an asian girl with an asian look (specifically wide face) will never be considered pretty in the US.
It's thinking like this that can drive you to doing plastic surgery and never being happy with yourself. How can you be happy when at 80% caucasian you still won't be considered pretty here?(that was rhetorical)
Ok your hour's over, I wanna get back to talking about nose jobs and other ps now.
This is with the intent of returning a month later?
I have no idea about facial lipo. I only got lipo on my torso and I'm still messed up almost 3 weeks later. I think I've said this before. That's how messed up I am- I feel like repeating myself I would not want them to do any procedures in that area based on how I currently look. Maybe face lipo is different.
I think she's defending herself against the "you're nuts" comment. All of those surgeries have been discussed in this thread so she's turning the mirror back on us saying, "well if I'm nuts, what about you guys that want to do this and that. We're all nuts then". At least that's how I understood it.
Do you mean it's not common? I know people on this board who have gotten it done or are thinking about it. I think it's very common amongst Koreans when you consider they commonly have square jaws. Next to rhino, and eyes (depending on your starting point) it seems like it makes the biggest difference. Fortunately neither of us will have to do it
Too bad about your cast. I'm sure you're anxious to get it off! Have you been out and about or stuck hiding?
It might not be considered gorgeous, but I have a theory about the US. Fit, confident and good teeth. If you have those with at least average looking features you would be considered pretty in the US. I'm not saying that you can't find something else to improve. Man, I think that last statement is a race hating generalization, I think we deserve more credit than that.
Wow, there actually is a caucasioplasty. I'd want to see a video of how stuff moves on her before considering anything that drastic. How did they make her eye sockets appear to have so much depth? Can just rhinoplasty do that?
Sorry, more common if you're a super skinny Asian man. Like you don't have enough money for food. Whenever I see my ex (native Korean) she tells me to stop losing weight because I look poor.
I lost 100 pounds and it majorly changed my cheekbone profile. Heck, at my weight now gaining o losing 5 lbs changes my cheekbone prominence. If you didn't already know that your face was wide at 100 lbs I would recommend trying to lose weight on your own and see what happens. But since you already know your face is wide at the lower weight, liposuction seems like an option. I think its still better to do the lipo when your closer to your ideal weight. It doesn't take a huge difference in fat in your face to change your look considerably. If they make you look good now, then you lose weight and it takes fat out of your face, you will look old, like a man, or poor.
Honestly, all of us here who have had ps have changed what we had to look like something else. It doesn't matter if we had subtle changes or not, IMO it's not right to tell you that you shouldn't change your features to anyway you want. My conern is more practical, telling a doc to make you look caucasian seems like a huge risk in turning you into a not quite caucasian looking freak. Just the surgeries you are considering will make you look more caucasian, so concentrating on making those look good will help in your goal.
All the clinics talked about here are pretty much on the same street. Exceptions are BK, Apr 31st, O and Young and maybe a few others. Those are still walkable. banobagi and shiminan are ones that come to mind that are not walkable from VIP (well, it's like a 45 minute walk). Can you read hangul? Basically if it says 신사동 or 압구정 on the website it will be for sure walkable from VIP. Some that are in 논현동 I would also consider walkable.
I got lipo all through my torso, so it may be different, but lipo disturbs the tissue A LOT. After lipo I was bigger than before (I couldn't zip up my jeans). The swelling is still substantial 2 weeks later, so it doesn't surprize me that if they don't want to do any more work in that area for months afterwards.
It looks like they had to back out some of the posts. Their database must have been screwed up.
cosmgirl, did you say you went to Dr. Charles lee and didn't get a good result? I thought you may have implied that. If not, did you check out his mandible reduction pictures? Compared to what they do in Korea they look more caucasian to me.
If you look at what causes the hump you see it is a little bit of over projection of the nasal bones, so if he takes the hump down not even all the way, he can then add tissue to the radix area and it will make your radix higher and give the appearance that your bridge is higher, hump is gone or reduced, even though it is still there. In a way he is partially using your hump to give this illusion without an implant. Now one thing that he described to me is that your hump may come back if your body over absorbs the material placed in this area, but he said this is an easy procedure to repeat with Dr. Kim if I need it. I'm wondering if this is what he did to my nose or if my radix is just swollen still. Anyway, you have no idea the staring I did at this CT picture and the questions I asked dr park about it because for us uninitiated you might think to just remove all the bony hump and draw a straight line from the straight part of the nasal bones. If you do that in the pic I'm showing you lose tons of bridge height to get rid of the hump.
Did he describe why the osteotemies are needed? Google open roof deformity if he didn't. It's standard procedure when removing any hump.
Dr. lee at VIP wanted to do a septoplasty on me but Dr. Park just asked me if I had trouble breathing, when I said no, he said no septoplasty. He does not over-sell this IMO, so you will likely benefit.
I do not know what a u-graft is. What was the price they quoted? How much you paying to stay near yeoksam and where? I know renaissance hotel is there which you can get a deal on priceline.
Resistance with airflow is described by poiseuille's law R=8nl/(pi*r^4). Doesn't really matter what n and l are because they stay the same before and after surgery, but it says resistance decreases proportionally to radius to the FOURTH power! So if your nostrils are made just *slightly* bigger and your septum is relatively not messed up (maintaining the radius) you'll at least have the sensation of breathing easier. In the post op it all depends if you need to pack your nose. I'm guessing because of the endonasal technique it is not required, but you should ask Dr. Park.
I breathe better than I ever have before. I didn't think it would be possible because I allready breathe easy from the amount of cardio I do.
At the pre-op consultation I started to ask him if maybe I should get a septoplasty to breathe better and he said his cartilage tip manipulation would get me 90% of the way there. That is one of my irregulatires my nose actually kinda zig-sags a lilltle but averages out to looking pretty straight
No ice. Dr. Park said that silicone sheets only need to be worn at night. Since I don't interact with people at my job I'll probably wear them as much as possible during the day too. I can feel the throbbing in my hump area and I don't want my body to layer bone there thinking it's doing me any good.
I think steri strips are for the rib rhino people for their rib wound.
Can you do either of these procedures with just local? I thought rib harvesting was an automatic general anesthesia. Same with jaw reduction. People are saying their rib rhino at vip took 7+ hrs. Aside from the pain, my soft tissue doc a Dream said I should do general for any surgery going longer than 4-5 hrs just as a practical reason that you want to be out cold for that long.
You know what, in the consultation right before surgery he goes over what we talked about before. He said exactly what he was going to do, he said "I'm going to shave down your hump a little". I understood that as it only needs to be shaved down a little to be completely removed. He didn't say it in bad English, I just wasn't paying as much attention as I should have. In the end I like it the way it turned out, although I probably would like it totally straight also which was my original plan. The tip work I consider totally amazing. Everyday I find a nuance that I didn't see before. But back to the hump. If you want it gone, MAKE SURE YOU ARE CLEAR ABOUT THAT. He'll probably recommend that for you anyway since humps aren't usually as attractive on females as they can be on guys. It might go down because of some swelling currently but I think a little bit is still going to remain. I've ordered some silicone sheets to cover it while it heals so that it doesn't scar and make a bigger bump.
