  1. OMG! I finally understand why there is a ‘flat’ area and a small skin bulge along my jawline! Thanks for sharing this @yunggrandpa! I found this link on fierycucumber’s post: https://www.dryaremchuk.com/blog/masseter-muscle-reattachment-after-mandibular-angle-surgery/.

“BACKGROUND: Altering the dimensions of the mandibular angle by alloplastic augmentation or skeletal reduction requires elevation of the insertion of the masseter muscle, including the pterygomasseteric sling. Disruption of the pterygomasseteric sling during exposure of the inferior border of the mandible can cause the masseter muscle to retract superiorly, resulting in a loss of soft tissue volume over the angle of the mandible and a skeletonized appearance. Subsequent contraction of the masseter elevates the disinserted edge of the muscle and not only increases the skeletonized area, but also exaggerates the deficiency by causing a soft tissue bulge above it.

I’ve asked the clinic many times why there was a skin bulge where my jawline was cut, but this never came up. There you go, another risk, another reason, why you should not get vline/jaw surgery. Damnit.

  2. @Forthetruth2019 I’m so sorry to hear what happened. There are some injections and lasers which may help with the scars, or perhaps fats graft or fillers to improve the dents on your face. Perhaps you would like to check with your doctors?

I considered lower SMAS facelift about 2 years ago, paid the deposit, but chickened out in the end. I was worried about the scars and gathered the risks would outweigh any marginal improvements since I don’t have pronounced sagging. I’m still procrastinating about threadlifts because of longevity issue, but I don’t think I’m ready for facelift yet.

  3. I can’t remember, it was 3 years ago. I had discounts for appearing on a Taiwanese news channel for generally featuring plastic surgery in SK. The documentary-liked video was not promotional, the viewpoints were neutral, and posed some rhetorical questions on PS to its viewers.

  4. Did mine 3 years ago. There’s definitely an improvement with eyebags which helps me look less tired and haggard. Didn’t do much for dark eye circles and veins but I don’t think it’s supposed to. Had residual swelling under one eye which took 1.5 years to resolve completely but the results last alright. For those who said it didn’t last, could that be because of swelling going down? Before the transconjuctival fats repositioning, I did undereye fats graft which I felt was not as good. I was slightly overfilled under one eye. Fats graft is not very precise and has more room for miscalculation for the delicate undereye areas.

  5. Awww thank you! I have a little sagging on the jowls but I’m not sure if that’s due to aging or the surgery. There’s a little loose skin due to the ‘flat’ areas on either sides of my jawline where the bones were taken out. That said, I don’t have major issues with sagging or loose skin. I’m looking at a 2nd fats graft to fill up those ‘flat’ areas, but still undecided about threadlifts.

  6. I didn't change my mind, they did. I paid the deposit a really long time ago, but they said the situation has changed now, and they will not be able to accommodate me. Ok lor, then I ask for refund. I wanted to do threadlift and fats graft.

  7. Yes, I have a shortlist of clinics that I want to do thread lift and fats graft. I’ve gotten some preliminary quotes but haven’t negotiated the price yet. I’m putting off my travel until the wuhan virus settles. I’m interested in Hyundai Aesthetics, Dr Lim Jong Min, but I haven’t decide yet.

  8. I really appreciate people coming back to this forum to share their LT results, so I’m gonna share mine as well!

    1. Rhinoplasty (silicon) & tip plasty (ear cartilage) | 4 years ago
My skin was really thin so I could see the outline of the ear cartilage. I did a simple revision 6 mths post op by putting a product - AlloDerm, over the cartilage. Although it solved the problem, I ended up with a sharper and more ‘Barbie’ nose than intended, but it’s alright. Silicon is still good so far, no warping.

    2. Zygoma, Vline & full face FG | 3.5 years ago
I  the improvement in my face shape but it comes with a cost: My lower lip and chin are still numb, there’s a flat area near either sides of my jawline where bone was removed, and mild sagging in the jowls. I did my FG together with FC. After 6 months, my left under-eye still looked ‘puffy’, and I believed it was overfilled rather than being swollen. Since I also had inherent eye bags, I went for under eyes fats repositioning.

    2. FG touch-up & under eyes transconjuctival fats repositioning | 3 years ago
I’m happy with my FG. Until today, I retain some fats on my upper eyelid, temples, forehead, upper cheeks, nasolabial folds, but not so much in my lower cheeks. There is a remarkable improvement in my under eye areas, but it took 1.5 years for a persistent swelling under my right eye to totally disappear!

After stopping PS for about 3 years, I’m now looking at thread lifting and FG.

    Some lessons learnt:
    1. Docs may not always get it right the first time, all the time. Know your risks, be mentally/financially prepared for revisions.
    2. Healing is a b****, persistent swelling can last a year or more.
    3. Take a break, don’t do PS continuously.

  9. Dr Oh speaks very good English and he was featured on many English speaking TV channels. You’re quite right that you don’t need a translator with him. When I was at Regen, the nurses changed my ice packs and checked my temperature every 2-3 hours throughout the entire night! For that, I was grateful. There wasn’t any deswelling treatments or complimentary hair wash but that was ok. I appreciate that Regen’s consultants are always responsive to my questions, even until today, 3 years post-op. Yes, they could be defensive at times, but not any more than any other SK clinic. I’ve also read hits and misses with Dr. Oh, what can I say? I suppose docs don’t have robotic arms and each individual carries different inherent risks and healing properties. Hope you heal well!

  10. It feels like having cotton permanently stuffed in your mouth at the chin. There’s a constant ‘stuffed’ pressure, 24/7. I can’t speak as well as I used to, but it’s hardly noticeable, so it’s fine for me. However, I imagine it could be serious for someone whose profession involves a lot of talking e.g. teacher, public speaker, etc. . There’s still sensation in my lower lip and chin, but dulled, sometimes I couldn’t tell when soup has trickled down or rice stuck on my chin. I don’t like scale... it’s too subjective... No problem chewing or swallowing though.

If you google the anatomy of the face, you can see so many facial nerves - big and small, and you’ll appreciate how dangerous jaw reduction/vline is. Not saying everyone will get side effects, but they are very real and very common. I do agree SK PS often downplay the risks.

  11. It’s interesting that we have so many people starting new threads sharing about their ‘successful’ FC experiences with so and so Clinic, but none is affirming his/her wonderful surgery result here? Hmm...

I’m 3 years post-op and I considered my surgeries fairly successful. Even under the hands of the most experienced surgeon, bone reduction surgeries carry a lot of risks. My eyes are ok, there‘s not much sagging and I like my new face shape. Even then, I do have one flat area near my jawline where the bone was taken out, and my lower lip and chin remain numb till this day.

I belong to the category where I don’t need bone reduction surgery but went ahead to get it anyway. So far I’ve not really heard of a 100% successful case. Most need fats graft or thread lifts after FC, or have varying degree of numbness. There are other side effects which the rest have mentioned in this thread. That said, it’s your face, your decision to make. Good luck!

  12. I think we are hardwired to be skeptical of any middlemen or financial consultant for the matter. We could also be biased in that sense, especially if you haven’t used one before. I do agree that we have to choose a good one.

I’m speaking from my own experience of using DFK, so I can’t comment on the rest out there. It’s $0 like I’ve shared, so it’s not really true you have to shell out money for a personal interpreter. During the course of negotiation with the clinic, I was quick to accept a price the Clinic threw at me, it was Shin (DFK) who stopped me and told me it was still high and hinted at me to negotiate further. Throughout the whole time, I felt he was on my side.

Tbh, there was a slight complication after my primary surgery because my skin was too thin and the edges of the ear cartilage was showing through my skin. No fault of the doc. I just needed a simple revision by placing a product, alloderm, over the cartilage. Shin was the one who helped spoke to the clinic about the revision, provided the service of ferrying me around again, this time definitely no commission since the revision was free, but just as committed.

I can safely say most of us used in-house interpreters without a hitch. Also like I’ve mentioned earlier, if it’s the first time you’re going for PS in SK, go ahead to find an agency/concierge or what not if that made you comfortable. Subsequently, you’ll be more sensitive to the price and procedures having done a lot of research, and able to discern what the in-house interpreters are telling you. Not to mention, a lot of docs actually understand and know how to speak English. Or at least, mine did.

  13. That’s just your assumptions and you’re forcing your own opinions unto her for the sake of winning an ‘argument’. Just take what she said literally, without adding your own emotions. She did not ask what surgeries she need. In fact, she was very clear that she wanted to do eyes and nose from the get go. All of us are not saying that your suggestions are wrong, but rather, we are being cautious in recommending 2-jaw. I just made a comment that our suggestions (mine including) are quite redundant because she was merely looking for buddies to go TW with her. Hey babe, quit being so defensive.
