Besides Dr. Charles Lee of Beverly Hills, what other doctors in the US have you all had experience with and would recommend to others wanting a nose job? (Especially because I would like to have more estimates on the cost of an asian nose job with a good doctor). Also, does anyone know of any good dr's in HK?

thanks blueheavens thats ok, yer i cant wait any longer lol i've been contemplating this surgery for quite some time now and i need to get it done asap as it has actually held me back from me wanting to do things with my life. i'm just very insecure about the way i look and my features and stuff, i know im not terribly deformed lol haha it just my self esteem is so low. yes i know that it has alot with my mental state, and that surgery wont cure it but it would help me to overcome alot. does anyone feel the same way??? anyone out there understand?

um i havent booked the final date for surgery yet, but its going to be around 23rd of april. um it sounds dramatic what im getting done but its not that extreme, i think lol. um im getting nose job (alar plasty, tip plasty and overall reduction of the size), incisional eyelid surgery, liposuction or removal of buccal fat (im not sure which one yet, because im gonna do it after my nose and eyes heal which should be roughly two weeks later), and final earlobe surgery.

also has anyone had complications with silicon nose implant? i've researched alot and apparently theses alot of complications that can occur from have silicon implanted as it is a foreign object, so im opting for gor-tex implant and cartilage graph. anyone have any opinions. i know silicon implant looks alot better and has great tip projecton, but after a couple of years the body can reject the implant and thats when things go bad. any sugestions or advice would be greatly appreciated, and particually from people who have had gor-tex implants and silicon implants.

hi again

i think i understand how you feel. i used to have body dysmorphic disorder. it's when you see major flaws in your features that don't really exist. it was so bad that i wouldn't allow myself to go outside like i used to or meet people even if i was told that i was beautiful or gorgeous or whatever ppl said. i told myself they were all lies. every single one of them. why they lied, i wasn't sure. i just kept saying to myself, i wish they would stop lying and tell me the truth, tell me the things that i saw. i believed that anyone and everyone was better than me. i skipped dances, social events, parties, etc. if someone asked me out, i automatically said no. in the mirror, what i saw was something totally different. when ppl told me that i didn't need any kind of surgery, i would reinstate in my mind that i did. they said i should live life now, but at that time, i couldn't see how i could live a happy life without changing everything about my appearance. i used to think it was because i was a perfectionist that i wanted all these surgeries done to me. even the surgeons i went to told me there was no reason to do surgery, that i was too pretty to change anything. again, i would tell myself they were lying to somehow make me unhappy. i was so depressed by it. i didn't know what was wrong with me. i didn't know if what i saw was real. i started to doubt myself. i wanted the pain and hurt to go away. i felt so alone. i just wanted to be happy and be someone else and to live a normal life. at times, life seemed so hard and empty that i just wanted to end it.

in reality, it was an illusion derived from difficult experiences of my childhood. things like my mom abandoning me, being raped, things too shameful to say. i felt like nothing, i hated myself, i felt i was unworthy of love, i blamed myself for things gone wrong. somehow i linked all these negative experiences to physical attributes.

i have a much healthier state of mind now and am more realistic about my own looks. it took years to begin to see things differently. now i have grown self-respect and believe that i am beautiful and stand out. n with my new self-confidence, i've heard more of, "you're beautiful" and "your parents must look great" and am believing and accepting it. i'm more outgoing and sociable now. i know i have flaws like anybody else, but i don't let those hold me back anymore. all in all, looks aren't really everything. so don't let it get you down to the point you can't live life. learn to be confident with who you are and what you have to offer and things will go much more smoothly. if you want to improve some things, then go for it. but please don't lose the orginal you to the point you don't look like the same person anymore. only you can be you. don't be somebody else. i use to compare myself obsessively with others and that can only bring you down. what you are now is something special and unbelievable. u can't just take my word for it, u have to believe it.

good luck with ur surgeries. may you have a successful and good outcome and hopefully you look like u, maybe just a better u. take care jake

p.s. i hope to hear about your experience as well as your outcome.

Long time lurker first time poster. I am in the process of screening doctors for my rhino augmentation. Here are some links and info that I came across during my search you might find useful. *DISCLAIMER* The comments I make under each doctor is in my own personal opinion and just because you do not see a doctor listed here does not mean he/she is not qualified. DO YOUR RESEARCH

Doctors well known for their "asian" nose jobs no particular order:

Dr. Dean Toriumi: http://www.deantoriumi.com/
One of the leading surgeons in the field, prefers patients own cartilage expensive

Dr. Paul Nassif: http://www.rhinoplastyspecialist.com/
Well known for rhino augmentations, prefers patients own cartilage

Dr. Samuel Lam: http://www.lamfacialplastics.com/
Well known for rhino augmentations, he used to prefer silicone but now is avid supporter of Goretex + cartilage and very conservative

Dr. Babak Azizzadeh: http://www.facialplastics.info/about.htm
Well known surgeon prefers cartilage + fascia like Dr. Nassif see here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XbmYmpsxt24&feature=channel_page

Dr. Charles Lee: http://www.asiancosmeticsurgery.com/
Well Known and has a few patients that post in this thread, prefers silicone

Dr. Ira D. Papel: http://www.facial-plasticsurgery.com/papel.asp
One of the leaders in facial surgery, professor Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery @ Johns hopkins voted #1 in nation. Prefers cartilage. ( I am going to see him next week)

Korea well known clinics:

Jelim: http://www.jelimps.com/
Cindirella: http://www.cindyclinic.com/
Grand: http://www.grandsurgery.com/main/

S: http://www.esps.co.kr/index.asp

BK: http://www.bkdy.co.kr/
Supposedly a forum member got work done here and they screwed up, another member got great results w/pics somewhere.

Dr. Jung : http://www.nose.co.kr/
Well known as the Nose guru and has lots of experience, Prefers either silicon or gortex. He gets crap because he is not member of and or he is not board certified, I cannot remember which.

good luck

*EDIT*
I forget to mention Dr. Jack Gunter. He is one of the leaders in the field as well but recently he is haven't some bad PR because a patient of his had a horrific experience with him.

Part of the appeal of going to Korea is for the savings and still managing to get great service but if I had to pay that much for a nose job, I would stick with the famous doctors in the U.S. plus they are local.

hey blueheavens,

first of all, thanks for sharing your experiences with me, i feel as if you understand what im going thur, and that you understand that it is beyond more than the physical side of things, and the reasons for wanting surgery.

secondly, i applaude you for your strenght and courage in being able to allow us, and me, to get to know you better as a person rather than just someone whos writes in this forum.

im just lost for words, i just dont really know what to say and if anything i say will have any relevance or make any sense. i dont know how to say it in words and describe how much your post meant to me, i just want to say thank you. i think people reading this post, will say 'why am i thanking you' but i cant really describe 'why', i just know why.

Hey everyone,

I just read on the BK website that it is free to stay at the clinic admission rooms post-surgery for six days? For those who have been to BK, is that true? It seems hard to do since they have so many foreign patients.. and what are the conditions like?
