Double Eyelid Surgery, Epi, Lateral - Master Thread

Recommended Posts

Hello  the doctor I consulted with was Dr. Lee Jae Soo (could also be written as Jae Su). 이재수 in Korean. He's an eye specialist, but if you're also interested in fixing your nose, make sure to see doctors who specialize in rhinoplasty!

Just a quick share, I found a simple guide explaining the basics of double eyelid surgery.

It's a good start for anyone who's just starting to do their research on this procedure, cos it explains some of the terms like ptosis and epi (which I was totally confused about initially until I did my own searching haha).

Here's the link: The Guide to Double Eyelid Surgery

Hope it helps.

Did you get a converter plug?
If you ask your hotel, they may have one. My place did and they lent it to us for free.

Yeah. I asked the hotel staff. They lent me a universal plug. Thank goodness.

Hi everyone,

I am new to double eyelid research and I am wondering if people can help me answer some of my concerns

First off, I am from Canada and I have double eyelids but I would like to make them bigger through partial incision method + epicanthoplasty at the inner corners of my eyes.

I am looking to pay roughly 2-2.5million korean dollars only. I am also looking to get my surgery at the end of April or in May of 2015.

Some of my questions are:

1. What criteria do you guys use when choosing a clinic/ and surgeon? (There are so many out there that it confuses and overwhelms me)

2. How long is the recommended staying time in Korea for foreigners who wish to get double eyelids?

3. Do American electrical cords work in Korea? Or do I need to purchase a converter plug?

4. Is it a bad idea to pay a deposit online before flying and meeting the clinic and surgeon? For example, JW requested a deposit so I can reserve a date.

5. I am looking to only stay 1 to 1.5 weeks max (maybe I'll extend it depending on your recommendations), is this enough time for clinics to give me an immediate date if I decide on a clinic the day I get there based on face to face consultations?

6. Is it recommended to pay in cash or by credit card?

7. How much excess money should I have other than money for surgery?

8. How much are consultation fees on average? Or are they free? Thank you!

Here are pics of my eyes:

Hey raEEv3, I will try my best to answer your questions for you.

1. What criteria do you guys use when choosing a clinic/ and surgeon? (There are so many out there that it confuses and overwhelms me)

First off, I would really recommend reading as many threads as you can. Even if the thread is not specifically for eye surgery like you're wanting, you can still learn a lot about the clinic itself in other threads focused on different surgeries. After researching on the forum, you'll probably be able to make a list of the clinics you're interested in. I would then check the websites of the clinics that are on my list and study the surgeon's credentials and their methods/techniques used for the specific surgery.

2. How long is the recommended staying time in Korea for foreigners who wish to get double eyelids?

You have to consider the time it will take to consult with clinics. For eyes, I'd add at least 7 days on top of the amount of days you plan on using to consult.

3. Do American electrical cords work in Korea? Or do I need to purchase a converter plug?

I've read that some people have had to buy adapters. If anyone has experience on this, please share!

4. Is it a bad idea to pay a deposit online before flying and meeting the clinic and surgeon? For example, JW requested a deposit so I can reserve a date.

Some people pay a deposit in advance if their 100% sure their going to have surgery at that clinic. From what I've seen, most like to consult with clinics beforehand since it allows them to meet face-to-face with the surgeon. You'll be surprised on how many forumers were dead set on going to a clinic, but changed their minds to go to another clinic after a face-to-face consultation!

5. I am looking to only stay 1 to 1.5 weeks max (maybe I'll extend it depending on your recommendations), is this enough time for clinics to give me an immediate date if I decide on a clinic the day I get there based on face to face consultations?

From what I've read, many clinics will make room for foreigners and change the date for a local patient since they know we'll be staying for a short time.

6. Is it recommended to pay in cash or by credit card?

I've read conflicting posts about this. I think it really depends on the clinic. Some say it doesn't make a difference. Some say you're able to get a discount paying cash. Some say you're charged more with credit card.

7. How much excess money should I have other than money for surgery?

You should have enough for a plane ticket back/accommodation + revision--just in case. I know revision surgeries are more costly than primary surgeries so I would recommend having enough money to prepare for the worst.

8. How much are consultation fees on average? Or are they free? Thank you!

I think most consultation are free. The only place I remember reading that charges a consultation fee is OZ clinic, but they only charged $5.

Has anyone heard of Braun PS clinic before in Korea?

http://www.braunps.co.kr

My friend in Korea went there to get her eyes done. She got partial-incision method only. And it turned out FANTASTIC! When she looks down it looks natural and there is NO scar line what so ever which is what I want!

She told me Braun is known for nose to locals, but she went ahead and got her eyes done there anyways.

There website is in Korean so I can't navigate for the before & afters.
But thoughts?

Hey dear, so sorry i took this long to reply to you.

Yes, I requested for a deposit payment slip as well as confirmation email for my consultation and surgery. Mr Shin did email these 2 items to me. I have also booked my flight tickets so right now, I'm just counting down to my trip

I've lost her contact as I misplaced my phone. However, you can try obtaining her contact from this blogger http://www.monoxious.com/plastic-surgery-in-korea-banobagi-part-3-surgery/

I got Claire's contact from her thou. Hope this helps

Btw, have you confirmed yours?
