Haha there isn't much to say really. I felt a good vibe from them from their consultation and chose them also because of the same day surgery (other clinics might not have had any room in their schedule especially with Mid Autumn festival during the week). The doctor was very attentive as well as the consultants and we spent quite a bit of time talking about my nose shape and structure and they went into detail on what kind of procedures they were planning on doing. Their initial price was higher than what I wanted to pay but I managed to get a decent price for four procedures on my nose and two on my eyes (though I'm not even sure which exactly because my mom was talking to them in Chinese)

My nose shape is pretty good but still bulbous at the tip due to swelling; I still have a splint on and will be taking it off in a few days. Consultant told me that my eyes were still pretty swollen though!

hey , i am going for eye surgery preferably epi and incisional ptosis in early March of 2017 ... i had my mind set on Teuim but i used docfinder because i was going alone and needed extra advice on clinics / also as to getting around in korea ( i am coming from the states) i only speak english!.. would you or anyone else care to meet up so we wont be alone !! haha pleaselet me know and we can exchange emails... thanks !

They do but their English skills aren't the best unfortunately

I can show you but currently not looking too good I believe from swelling. I'll be honest though it seems completely different from what I asked (I wanted a slight curve but the bridge and tip is completely straight); going to take the splint off tomorrow and see if I can ask a few questions. I did give myself a mini anxiety attack earlier from negative thoughts, hopefully it's nothing

I've emailed a few clinics and was recommended a partial incision surgery by Teium. Has anyone else had partial incision surgery? I was reading information about it from the Dream and they don't recommend partial at all.

Just an update on my double eyelid search: I went to Opera for a consultation on Tuesday and skipped Teuim and Bando Eyes since I already liked Banobagi and Opera and that was enough choices already.

Note: Teuim seems really busy and there is only one doctor there so if you run late to appointments, it's hard to reschedule.

About Opera: I liked the place. It's smaller than the other plastic surgery "mega malls" I visited (i.e. BK) and I really like that's it's super conveniently located. The consultant I saw before meeting the doctor was also friendly and just "got it" - like, she understood well what my main priorities were when it came to the surgery and unlike so many other consultants, she didn't try to upsell me on a bunch of different procedures.

By the way, this is a common theme I've noticed with these plastic surgery clinics - it's the consultants or managers that often recommend more than you need. Perhaps they get paid in commissions. At ASPS, for example, the consultant insisted I needed to get both my eyes done and that I should go for full anesthesia, even though I told her that scared me. Pretty much every doctor I've consulted told me getting just my one, problem eye done was fine and that partial anesthesia would suffice.

Overall, Opera was good - the consultant actually took the time to explain the surgery in detail: how many points they were going to make, the sort of line I could expect, the anesthesia procedure, etc., which was not the case at other clinics.

They also quoted the most affordable price - 400,000 KRW for one eye, non-incision.

That being said, I actually decided to go with Banobagi. I was trying all day today to decide between the two and ultimately, it was just a Google/Naver search that decided it - the doctor I met with at Banobagi has far more press than the one I met with at Opera. Maybe that shouldn't be a real factor, but I feel better going with someone who seems to have more experience.

This is something I was looking for since as "easy" as double eyelid surgery is supposed to be, a few of the doctors I met with just looked really young and I'd prefer someone who's been in the game for awhile, if you know what I mean.

My surgery is scheduled for tomorrow! So nervous and a little excited. Will report back on how it went. Wish me luck![/QUOTE

So I had my double eyelid surgery this morning and I just want to give some overview on what I learned/experienced through this. Hope it helps someone!

What I did: I did double embedding non-incision double eyelid surgery (maemol). I have thin-ish eyelid skin (more medium thickness, really) and I already had a double eyelid but the line wasn't clear. My main reason for doing this was to secure it so I could "open" my eyes easily, without having to use my forehead muscles (that causes wrinkles, yo).

The procedure: I was super nervous and scared, I barely even slept last night, but it was seriously not that bad. I only did partial anesthesia, which I was terrified of because...well, needles! In my eyelid! But it was just a few painful pinpricks that lasted under a minute.

I didn't feel any pain during the actual procedure, which lasted maybe 15-20 minutes tops. The most uncomfortable thing about the whole experience was the super bright lighting aimed directly into my face (necessary, but doesn't feel fantastic) and the unsettling feeling of having my eyelid tugged and pulled on.

Doc was great, had perfect bedside manner, told me briefly what he was doing, when pain or discomfort would start/stop, and made small talk to de-tense me. Was really helpful overall.

After the surgery, they put a small piece of gauze over the eyelid and I left - felt no pain, just relief and elation at finally having had this done! Oh, there's a bit of...not discomfort, per se - more a feeling of something different. I'm more used to having my left eye open wider/more easily than my right one so it felt a lil weird to feel the right one as open. Not sure if that makes sense...

What I learned/my 2 cents:

Don't do more than you need. I mentioned earlier that BK recommended I do ptosis. Another place also recommended I do epi. I really didn't need either. Sure, you might get a bit of a discount by doing it all at once, but IMHO, it might be better to do just what you really need and then see if you really need anything else - you might not.

Go with a doctor you feel comfortable with. I had Lasik done like a decade ago and it was the most frightening experience - not just 'cause you're wide awake and unable to blink throughout the entire procedure, but mostly because the doctor was a real jerk and he chose to snap at me every time I winced/involuntarily moved. Bedside manner really matters, especially when you're lying on an operation table alone and scared. Go with a doctor who's willing to listen to your concerns, answers your questions without rushing you and makes you feel comfortable.

Partial incisions seems to be out. I thought I'd need a partial incision and asked about this at 2 places and they both said they don't really recommend this anymore. Especially if you're young, don't have too much eyelid fat or saggy skin on your lids, they both said the preferred method is a more secure form of non-incision (like securing it twice or thrice). I also asked one of the consultants which surgery she got - her eyes didn't look natural - and she said partial incision and that she got it awhile back and wouldn't recommend it.

Do your due diligence. If you're here, you're probably doing that anyway, but yea...all these clinics are pretty close to each other (by foot, subway or cab) so always get a second (and third and fourth) opinion.

Don't be scared. Honestly, this surgery was way less painful and intensive than having my wisdom teeth removed. They gave me Tylenol as a painkiller. It's really not that bad.

Last note on prices - Banobagi was one of the more expensive places I went to. I know I could've gotten this done for a lot cheaper, especially since double eyelid surgeons are a dime a dozen in Seoul and I speak fluent Korean. But hey, you're only going to do it once (hopefully) so might as well as get it done where you want to/feel most comfortable.

I'll try to post pics later once I figure out how to do it so y'all can see how an eye looks after surgery (I know I was super curious about this)

U are lucky that your consultations gave consistent comments and so that's easy to decide. For me, several came back with different recommendations for the online consult. What I do is Non-Incision Double Eyelid Surgery at Dream Plastic Surgery with Dr. Park.
Before I went to Seoul for my Surgery, I already shortlisted some clinic which were:

(1) Teuim (2) Opera (3) JW (4) Dream

After much discuss session with my friend, we dropped Opera and Teuim off our list. People who already done their surgery at Teuim used to say that they feel pain at the end of surgery and the surgery took a long time, honestly I have a really low pain tolerance so I move Teuim to the last of list (it might sound lame but i really hate if i have to feel pain especially if it near my eyes). However, if this isn't an issue for you then go ahead since I heard a lot of people have successfull surgery at Teuim. As for Opera, some forumer post an article where it says that Opera have some issue that make it to be included to the blacklisted list, this might have nothing to do with the eyes specialist but I rather go somewhere that have better reputation.

Thus that leave JW and Dream. My friend and I were leaning toward JW more than Dream, but JW did something that turn me off completely ( I will not write it here but if you wanna know just PM me). And that means Dream is the last choice. So we contacted Dream via Kakaotalk and reserve our consultation and operation date, thankfully Dr. Park is available at that time. I choose Dr. Park because I heard that he is the rhinoplasty and non-incision eye specialist there. The other reason is their reality show video “Let me in” show a very good job done by Dr. Park and I just like his style and the result. After setting for the appointment, the consultant arranged the driver to pick us up at 2nd May.

My consultation should be on 10am but I couldn’t arrive in time because my plane’s time of arrival is too close but fortunately they still can squeeze us in to see Dr. Park at 11.30am. Dr. Park is like everybody said, soft-spoken and very polite. He has an calming effect and he smiles a lot in the consultation which I found really comforting. Dr. Park can speak good english, but avoid talking too fast so that he can get your meaning clearly. There is also an english translator that accompany us while we are there and her english is really good so it’s fine if you cannot speak Korean.

Dr. Park recommend for me to do non-incision double eyelid surgery and medical epicanthoplasty, which is optional. I am not sure about epi and don't want to do it just to regret it later so I choose only non-incision. After that we decide on the height of my crease then after some q&a session, we leave the exam room. Because the consultant is quite busy we have lunch first at McD downstair , which I am quite happy with because I don’t have to walk too far to find food.

When go back up, the english translator take us to see the consultant, Helene, to decided on the price. I am not good at negotiation so 10% off is fine for me. Beside I don't think I can bring the price too low since my friend and I only do a non-incision surgery. After we agreed at the price which is KRW 1,620,000 with 7% tax refund. We pay the deposit of KRW 200,000 then receive a reservation card. I was told to go back tomorrow at 9.30am

We arrived at Dream at 9.10am, it is still early so there is only the receptionist. We wait for a bit and at 9.30am we were greet by our english translator, Julia, and were directed to finish the payment. For the tax refund, they printed the recipe right after we finish the payment. It will require passport so make sure you bring it. After that they ushered us to the 5th floor where they told us to get ready. Julia asked us some basic information regarding medical history and ask us to fill an consent form for anasthesia. She also gave us the aftercare package which include tablets, ointment and eyedrop.

I wait for quite a while before we are taken to the 6th floor for our last consult with Dr. Park. Once again we decide the height of the crease and Dr. Park marked it. I was the first on to go to the surgery room while my friend wait for me. My surgery itself take maybe only 30 mins, so it was very fast.

After they took me to the operation room, they prepped me and sanitize my face. Dr. Park come not long after that. He draw another line to my skin where he plan on putting the suture. I find it funny when he told me to open and close my eyes using several different intonation. It was like he is singing XD. Next come the anasthesia injection which honestly is the most painful part, it only last seconds though. My memory is kinda blurry so I cannot really understand what is going on. The only thing that i remember is the pressure the nurse put near my eyes and when Dr. Park pull at the suture to adjust it. Next thing I know, everything is done and I can move off the bed. Like I said, very fast!

A nurse accompany me to the elevator and give me ice gel pack. She told me to ice my eyes for the first 3 days frequently and for me to wait at the 5th floor for my friend. Dream is very busy at that day so I cannot get any room to rest for a while, probably because my surgery is not very aggressive and the room was filled by patient with more difficult surgery. Julia told me that I could play the computer if I like while I am waiting. My friend’s eyes is more complicated than me so I wait for a while. At that time I just dosed off, play the computer, watch the TV, repeat . After my friend come down, she have to rest a bit. Before we go back to the hotel, we receive an explanation about the after care kit. I was afraid that my eyes will be really swollen and It will be hard for me to walk back to the hotel, but it didn’t happen. I can still see very clearly, the only difference is the tightness around my eyes.

During my recovery time, I used to walk quite far since it is my first time going to Seoul so there might not be enough time for sightseeing if I just stay at the hotel. Also I drink lots of water because I want to prevent from getting sore throat especially when I enjoy lots of greasy and spicy food. It might be the reason that my eyes is still swollen after a week while my friend’s eyes become perfectly natural

As for pumpkin juice, I could not find it until 2 days before I fly back to my home contry, but since I have to buy one box which contain 25 package, I didn’t buy it. You can get the pumpkin juice at a pharmacy near the clinic. Just walk past JW. It located beside a store called Deolor/Deloro? (Sorry If I got it wrong). You have to buy one bulk package, contain 25 package, so it is better for you to buy it right after you are doing the surgery so there is time for you to drink all of it.

I got back to Dream 1 week after my surgery and Dr. Park said that me and my friend’s eyes is healing nicely and everything should look natural after 3 weeks, he directed the statement more to me though because my eyes is still swollen.

To be honest, my Korean cousins chose the three clinics for me. I trusted their judgment as both had undergone various procedures and were well-connected in Gangnam circles. They suggested smaller boutique clinics (Real, Opera) which offer high quality services, lower prices, etc. I wasn't planning on visiting Banobagi initially, but a friend insisted I go see Dr. Park, who was the doctor I ended up choosing.

I read great reviews about Teuim on this forum, but I personally thought the prices were too high. However, it seems like a good choice if you're not Korean since it's harder for foreigners to find reputable clinics amongst a sea of sketchy 'factory' clinics. I simply wanted to convey that there were other excellent options that weren't being discussed on this forum yet

This isn't directly related to my DES experience, but the hyper focus on physical beauty in Korea is unreal! I mean, every country has beauty standards, but I've never felt more conscious of my physical appearance than when I was in Seoul.

This post will probably be my last (unless I randomly decide to check back to answer questions. Just a disclaimer, I am going to rant and write everything that comes to mind. I will not profread this since this may be quite long so sorry for typos and such. I actually wasn't going to write about my experience at all since I figured this is it and i am done with my ps journey, but i remember getting very annoyed with people that finally get the surgery, vanish, and never tell people how it went. ANyways here go.
Surgery: incisional + epi
Clinic: JW beauty
doctor: Dr Choi hong lim
Planning/logistics: I traveled completely alone. Flew from US to South Korea and stayed at hotel sunshine which is 5 min walking distance to JW. You do not need a translator. Buying food, getting around, taking taxi/subway is a lot easier than i imagined. Plus, you can get everything you need at grocery stores. All you gotta do is pick up items, pay, and not talk to anyone lol. My biggest concern going into a goreign country was buying food, but that turned out to be a non issue. oh and I stayed for 10 nights.
Clinics: only consulted with 3 (jw, teium, dream)
JW: ultimately chose this one because dr choi seemed skilled and made me feel very comfortable. he was also nice. most importantly, he specializes in incision des which is what i really needed since i have to much skin and fat and what not. they showed me a lot of ba pictures not online and I really liked his style. I've also read a lot about his credentials so was very interested in him. However, I could only find very few actual people with photos of their eyes that got done by him. (there are ppl like mizbunnie and miss lemonade, but I was afraid that was marketing or something). So it was actually pretty risky for me too choose him since not many people on purseforum (i think there is only one girl with pictures on here) that recommended him. In the end, I'm very happy though.
Teium: dr kwon had a way to him that made me feel like he knew everything about des. however, i didn't go with him because I personally don't like his style. his epi is to much and just too sharp. also, i've seen pictures of ppl who had their eyes done with him, and when they close their eyes I don't like the cut of the incision line. Like it's really sloped high from the inner corners/ (lol, not sure how to describe this) nevertheless, dr kwon is the safest bet for foreignors. I highly recommend him to ppl to lazy to do research or ppl who are not sure and don't want to deal with researching less known doctors since you eyes will turn out fine with him.
Dream: Only consulted here cuz it is close to my hotel and jw. not much to say here. i never really did research on them and can't even remember which doctor I went to.
Preparing for surgery: after I changed and washed up etc. I was hella nervous because I felt like i was making a rash decision and part of me wanted to run away. It's really quite surreal at this point. Anyways, I was still questioning whether I should have chosen dr choi over dr kwon so yeah, i was a total mess in the head. I finally decided that it's too late now and i just need to have faith. I only calmed down after dr choi spent a really long time measuring my eye, using tools and stuff to make sure everything was even, the height of the crease, how much skin he was taking off, and everything was perfect. He was very meticulous drawing the designs on my eyes and making sure everything was symmetrical (which is my biggest worry). So I guess that's when i finally decided he is a good surgeon and I trust him with my eyes.
After surgery: By the time I was fully awake and aware it was already 3pm. forgot to mention earlier my surgery started at 10am. So i was asleep for a long time after that. Anyways, when I could finally walk and stuff, the nurse (or somebody) got me a taxi (even though my hotel is literally 5 mins away). i got in, they brought me to my hotel. i went into my room and just slept. around 5 pm i woke and ate some oatmeal stuff i prepared before.
For the next couple days I just went out to by food, walk around, do a little shopping and then come back to my hotel. Also, about the hair washing thing. I asked the nurse about it when I went back for checkup my 3rd (or 4th? cant remeber day) and she just pretended she didn't know what i was talking about so i was like whatever and just went to a salon to get my hair washed. no big deal though.
When i finally had my stitched removed by a nurse, i got to see dr choi. he looked at me and was super happy with the results. at this pint I was still pretty swollen and slightly bruised, but he said tat i healed well. my left eye was a bit moe swollen than my right but he assured me that my eyes will be perfectly even after a few months.
CONCLUSION: all in all, it was a whirlwind of a trip, but at 1.5 post surgery, I am incredibly happy with my eyes. I have no epi scar, but I do have a scar where the incision was. It is a thin red line. I kakaoed them and they said that it will eventually turn skin color and will fade within a year. (lol that's a long time) most importanlty, my eyes are even! my left eye was actually a tiny bit smaller before so the fact that its even now just makes me sooooo happy.
I will probably be back later even though i said i woulnd't at the beginning of this post just in case i left out anything important......bye for now

Where did you go to get your DES+ptosis correction? I noticed right away that my eyes had changed shape. The swelling was very minimal so I could see the final shape within a day or 2. I am really sorry to hear your eye shape looks the same at post op day 7. It really saddens me to read when members end up paying $1000s and end up unhappy with their eye results which is why I keep mentioning MVP. Although another friend recently chose JW and his eyes are absolutely fine postop. Will the surgeon revise for free if you want more of a difference?

I have MVP and JW on my list. and I am thinking of JK. Unfortunately, I cannot find any reviews on JK at all although I like their b/a pictures as the best and most natural on eyelids. would love to hear more from any who has done eyelid surgery with JK. What surgeries are you looking to do. do you have a KK ID? I plan to go first week of Dec
