blueblood444 Posted August 18, 2014 Share Posted August 18, 2014 Hi everyone! I underwent DES back in May of this year in Korea. I consulted with three clinics: Opera, Real, and Banobagi. The first two are lesser known abroad, but all three are widly popular with locals. I ultimately choose to have my procedure done at Banobagi since the doctor uses a unique method called "double embedding". I'm really glad I went with this option as my eyes recovered quickly - I met up with a group of Koreans (who are more perceptive to PS) a few days after the surgery and they couldn't even tell that I got work done! Though one thought I was wearing burgundy eye shadow lol... I opted for a very natural fold, and am extremely pleased with the outcome. I know that Banobagi isn't the most popular clinic for eyes, but Dr. Park is very skilled and professional. The procedure itself took less than 20 minutes and the most painful part was the injections. But I've heard that some people can't close their eyes all the way after doing ptosis... :/ And I'm guessing the recovery takes much longer for ptosis correction, right? I saw their B&A, and most of the eyes do seem similar, but the doctor is very thorugh during the consultation. He took his time to explain the best fold for my eyes, demonstrated that having a high fold would create ugly "sausages" in my case, and recommended against the epi. The clinic is very pristine and modern, and is relatively small (only took up one floor of a multi-story building). Their prices were SO reasonable, but the consultant can be pushy and pressure you to book with them (she kept lowering the price after realizing that I was heading off to another cinic). The only reason I didn't go with Opera was that I preferred the non-incision technique offered at Banobagi. Hope this helps! Here are three pics - before, after (3 months post op), after (1 month post op with makeup) To be honest, my Korean cousins chose the three clinics for me. I trusted their judgment as both had undergone various procedures and were well-connected in Gangnam circles. They suggested smaller boutique clinics (Real, Opera) which offer high quality services, lower prices, etc. I wasn't planning on visiting Banobagi initially, but a friend insisted I go see Dr. Park, who was the doctor I ended up choosing. I read great reviews about Teuim on this forum, but I personally thought the prices were too high. However, it seems like a good choice if you're not Korean since it's harder for foreigners to find reputable clinics amongst a sea of sketchy 'factory' clinics. I simply wanted to convey that there were other excellent options that weren't being discussed on this forum yet This isn't directly related to my DES experience, but the hyper focus on physical beauty in Korea is unreal! What did your well connected friends say about Teuim? I know that there are a lot of good clinics out there. I would just like to find an eye surgery specialist, who could speak either English or Chinese. lol So far Teuim seem to be top of the list. But I am open to other suggestions. My korean friend went to "Jaedon" clinic to do her eyes, and the outcome is good!!!! And she claimed is very famous in korea for eye too!!! She said it's a smaller clinic. My friend went to this one for her second surgery (first one was with BK catered to foreigners and really big, but she said in her surgery her mom ran into her doctor in the elevator!!! so they left her with a new surgeon and lied. Her eyes got undone after 4 months) so I wanted to see if I could get some more information on it. Also, interested in info on Opera and Real (links tooo please?!) According to the ad at the bottom, the clinic is offering DES + epi for 900 000 Korean won (around $900 USD). They not only have an English website, but offer free online consultations. It seems their initial prices for DES range between $2000-3000 USD (make sure to bargain). I've noticed that the current trend in Korea is moving away from the huge, doll-like eyes; all the surgeons I've consulted with recommended a more natural look. Don't worry too much about the language barrier - most consultants can speak a little bit of English. My cousins did DES, epi, rhinoplasty, and fat grafting. They underwent all these procedures 5+ years ago (except FG) and followed the trends at the time (ie. went for the whole doll-look). But I honestly think the 'Gangnam nose' looks sooo unnatural on Asian women. One did her eyes and nose at a small clinic called Hong Sung Ho Clinic: http://www.hongsclinic.co.kr/index.htm. He's the ex-husband of a famous actress named Lee Misook. I wouldn't recommend it since her nose looks pretty, but fake. The other did her eyes at Real and nose at Cinderella. Neither have heard of Teuim, but I'm not surprised as most Koreans don't go to the most expensive places for DES. These prices may seem suspiciously low, but DES is such a common procedure and the market is oversaturated with clinics. As long as you avoid the notorious factory clinics, I think you will get the results you want. I asked my cousins for more recommendations, mentioning the language barrier issue, and they responded that Jewelry, TL, and Cinderella were very popular with both locals and foreigners. Also, if any of you are interested in skincare, I recommend Leader's Clinic. It's a little pricy, but I noticed a huge difference in my skin after a few (painful) treatments.
